Welcome to the San Luis Obispo Chamber’s technology resources area!
As the cultural and commercial hub of the beautiful Central Coast of California, San Luis Obispo (or “SLO” as the locals call it) is a highly desirable place for technology companies to locate and do business.
University & Colleges
As the home to California Polytechnic State University, or “Cal Poly”, and Cuesta Community College, the city enjoys a youthful vigor and intellectually fertile climate. Cal Poly has one of the largest computer and engineering programs on the West Coast and is invested in the local high-tech sector through collaborative projects such as a research park and technology transfer programs. Cal Poly’s College of Engineering was named the No. 1 public engineering program in the nation by U.S. News &World Report in the magazine's Best Undergraduate Engineering Report. Cal Poly and Cuesta College’s strong technology programs provide the skilled workforce pool that is critical for modern technology companies.
Lifestyle
San Luis Obispo blends the relaxed lifestyle of a smaller city with high technology services typically only available in metro areas. Multiple telecom carriers provide business grade voice and data services in the area. In addition, SLO has several enterprise-class data centers, so it is an ideal location to co-locate servers and network systems for your business.
The atmosphere and climate of SLO make it one of the most desirable places to live in the United States, and “could easily qualify as paradise,” according to Sperling’s Best Places. Because of this, many creative, entrepreneurial people choose to locate their companies here to enjoy the high quality of life.

The SLO Chamber is committed to enhancing and further supporting technology companies in San Luis Obispo and has established a committee focused on these goals. The Technology Advocacy Committee of the Chamber is a dedicated group of business professionals whose companies design, manufacture, market, and/or maintain high-tech products and services. Our mission is to promote an environment to attract and retain these types of companies in San Luis Obispo County.
Currently the TAC is working on the 2010 Technology Survey for this year's Technology Forecast, as well as the Chamber's online advertising program. | |
