Will it crush the wedding industry?

Thousands of people visit our county each year to attend weddings, including many that are outdoors on rural ranches. Regulations are working their way through the county that could greatly alter what’s allowed. Daniella Sapriel, owner of Hummingbird House and Vineyard in Templeton, has started the Coalition of Affected Business Owners (CABO), a nonpartisan grassroots group of landowners, business owners, and other County residents opposed to the proposed regulations. She’ll tell us why we should be concerned, too.

If it IS broke, DO fix it!

A small business started by two Cal Poly students in their garage is now getting national attention. Through its web site, iFixit.com provides the parts and easy to understand manuals for fixing your broken electronic gadgets yourself. Co-founder Kyle Wiens will tell us how they came up with such brilliant, but not simple, idea.

Caught without a car?

If you’re a visitor to SLO that arrives by train, bus, or plane, is it possible to have an enjoyable experience without a car? Aeron Arlin-Genet of SLO Car Free will explain how it’s possible, and why we should care.

Getting a fresh start

Paul Perez was 13 when he started using drugs and getting in trouble with the law. Now 28, he’s trying to change all that. Paul is clean and sober, works full time, goes to college full time, and is getting ready to get married. But what about those massive gang tattoos? He’ll share his inspiring story.

Latest California tourism trends

The SLO Comfort Inn owner Nipool Patel is the President this year of the California Lodging Industry Association, an association of mostly non-chain hotel owners. He’s had the opportunity of hearing what happening in tourism in other areas of the state, and how the industry in those areas is coping, and sometimes even thriving. He’ll explain some of the best ideas with you.

What happens in Vegas…

The SLO Little Theatre singers and dancers will present an excerpt of their newest production “Vegas, Baby!" which runs from July 10th to August 2nd.

Special Added Attraction

The Zongo All Stars, one of the headline performers at the SLO Downtown Association’s Concerts in the Plaza will give us a sample of their upcoming show.
