Workers' Compensation
State law requires employers to pay benefits to an employee who becomes sick or injured because of work. Workers' comp insurance provides six basic benefits: medical care, temporary disability, permanent disability, supplemental job displacement, vocational rehabilitation and death benefits.
The state Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC) monitors the administration of workers' comp claims and helps resolve disputes connected to claims for benefits. Its mission is to minimize the adverse impact of work-related injuries on California employees and employers.
