DESCRIPTION:Cal Poly will host a forum for the two candidates seeking to represent the 24th District in the U.S. Congress from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday\, Oct. 20\, in Spanos Theatre (No. 44).  \nCandidates Salud Carbajal and Justin Fareed will reply to select questions supplied from the live audience and KSBY’s social media platforms. The event will be moderated by KSBY News anchor Carina Corral. The station will broadcast the first hour of the forum live on KSBY-TV (NBC) and live-stream the entire event at www.ksby.com. \nDoors will open at 5:30 p.m.\, and seating will be on a first-come basis. Approximately 350 seats will be available to the public. Doors will close at 6:15 p.m.; the live broadcast will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. Complimentary parking will be available in the Grand Avenue parking structure. \nThe Santa Barbara County candidates are seeking to succeed Democrat Lois Capps\, who is retiring after nearly two decades in the House of Representatives.  \nCalifornia’s 24th Congressional District includes Santa Barbara\, San Luis Obispo and northern Ventura counties\, stretching along some 200 miles of coast from Ventura to Ragged Point at the San Luis Obispo-Monterey county line\, and running inland to the Temblor Range at the edge of the San Joaquin Valley and south to Los Padres National Forest.  \nThe event is sponsored by KSBY-TV\, Cal Poly\, Associated Students Inc.\, the College of Liberal Arts\, the Political Science Department\, and the League of Women Voters.
