SUMMARY:Midstate Fair: The Chainsmokers with Special Guest Justin Caruso
DESCRIPTION:The Chainsmokers’ stunning 2016/17 achievements include a just-won GRAMMY Award in the Best Dance Recording category\, for their catchy\, worldwide hit ‘Don’t Let Me Down featuring Daya’. Their tsunami-sized mega-hit “Closer” held down the #1 spot for three consecutive months – making it the biggest and longest-running #1 hit of 2016. Their three signature singles of 2016 have all been certified multi-platinum; “Roses” featuring Rozes (3X)\, “Don’t Let Me Down” featuring Daya (4X) and “Closer” featuring Halsey (4X). The duo has been topping the global streaming charts on a weekly basis for almost a year\, with an incredible half a billion Spotify streams and YouTube views for “Closer\,” alone. \nThey clocked a three-month reign at the top of the Digital Sales\, Streaming Songs\, and Hot Dance/Electronic chart\, the first artist to top the Hot Dance/Electronic chart for 10 or more consecutive weeks with 3 #1 songs (comprising the above-mentioned hits)\, landing all three on the Top Ten of the coveted Hot 100 singles chart in 2016. Nominated for multiple Billboard\, Teen Choice\, MTV Video\, American Music and GRAMMY Awards\, they recently snared their first AMA win for Favorite Artist/Electronic Dance Music\, and just last Sunday\, February 12\, 2017\, they won a GRAMMY Award in the Best Dance Recording category. Their current Top 10 hit “Paris” is flying up the charts\, being played in heavy rotation at radio stations nationwide. \nJustin Caruso is not your average college kid with musical taste turned producer. He is an LA native whose dreams of becoming a basketball player were deflated due to an injury\, which unintentionally catapulted him to discover a dormant talent in music. Not even a decade into his career\, Justin Caruso\, a junior in USC’s Thornton School of Music\, has garnered praise and recognition from music industry leaders such as The Chainsmokers and 3LAU\, allowing him to work with some of the best of the industry and remix the hottest singles. With over 20 million streams online\, Justin is now starting on his debut original tracks\, the first being a collaboration with 3LAU\, the most played electronic artist on radio. He also recently finished a fall tour with 3LAU\, hitting over 20 dates including New York\, LA\, and Miami. Justin has proven himself early on in his career and with all that is to come he is destined to become one of the top players in the business of electronic music. \nPerforming in the Chumash Grandstand Arena

SUMMARY:BarrelHouse Brewing Co. concerts: Shawn Clark Family Band
DESCRIPTION:Shawn Clark writes music from the heartland. Attend a Shawn Clark Family Band show and you’ll hear a Hank Williams\, Sr. tune or an obscure Marty Robbins song. Primarily\, you’ll hear Shawn Clark’s original tunes\, delivered in his confident baritone. \nInspired when hearing Townes Van Zandt’s version of the Rolling Stones’ “Dead Flowers” while watching the film\, The Big Lebowski\, Shawn Clark thought\, “I want to write music that sounds like that.” Two years later\, he has two albums\, a fine group of fellow musicians making up the “Shawn Clark Family Band” and his sights set on bringing this old-style country music to a wider audience.

SUMMARY:The Great American Melodrama presents the Brand New Musical The Karaoke Kid
DESCRIPTION:This summer The Great American Melodrama is rocking out with the world premiere musical comedy The Karaoke Kid. Set right here on the Central Coast\, The Karaoke Kid is a musical parody of classic 1980’s\nmovies like The Karate Kid. It features new versions of classic rock and pop songs\, and a hilarious script penned by Melodrama Artistic Director Dan Schultz. “We are thrilled to share the Karaoke Kid with our\nsummer audience. It’s the prefect show for people who like big laughs and great music\,” Schultz says. \nThe Karaoke Kid is the story of Daniel Mancuso (Mike Fiore). After he and his mom relocate to Pismo Beach from the East Coast\, poor Daniel just doesn’t fit in. He has no friends\, no car\, and he’s bullied by the\ncool kids at school. And it seems that in Pismo\, rather than fighting to solve problems\, the kids battle… karaoke battle. There’s just one problem\, Daniel can’t sing. But then he meets a mysterious old master\, Mrs. Muskogee (Sierra Wells)\, who trains him in the ancient art of karaoke. Along the way\, Daniel falls in love with the popular girl (Rachel Tietz) and starts finding his voice. Can he overcome his fears and win the Five Cities Karaoke Contest? Find out in this loving tribute to 80’s and ‘90s music that’s fun for the whole family. The show is directed and written by Dan Schultz\, lyrics by Colleen Perry\, choreography by Zach Johnson\,\nand musical direction by Kevin Lawson. \nFollowing each performance of The Karaoke Kid is the Melodrama’s new vaudeville revue\, The Great Outdoors. The revue features comedy sketches and songs all about camping\, hiking\, and making your way in\nthe natural world. From bug bites\, to songs around the campfire\, The Great Outdoors Vaudeville Revue is a perfect way to end an evening full of laughs. The revue is directed by Suzy Newman with musical direction\nby Kevin Lawson. \nThe Karaoke Kid and the Great Outdoors Vaudeville Revue perform June 15 – September 16. Performances are Wednesday through Fridays at 7 pm\, Saturdays at 3 and 7 pm\, and Sundays at 6 pm. Beginning July 13\,\nthese shows will run in repertory with The Tavern and begin playing on alternate nights. The Melodrama’s in-house snack bar features great food and drinks served before the show and during intermissions. Tickets are $20 to $27\, with discounts available for groups\, seniors\, students\, active military\, and children. For more information and to purchase tickets\, call the Melodrama Box Office\, at 805-489-2499\, or visit\nwww.americanmelodrama.com.
