SUMMARY:GOING GOING GONE
DESCRIPTION:Our planet has already begun to experience the effects of the sixth mass extinction of flora and fauna. The last one occurred 65 million years ago – triggered by a meteorite crashing into the Earth that resulted in the extinction of 75% of the species. Today scientists believe that if current patterns continue within 300 years 75% of the species of plants and animals we now know of will be gone. Our catastrophic ‘meteorite’ does not come from space but from us- it is a result of human activities including habitat encroachment and fragmentation\, climate change from CO2 emissions\, hunting\, pollution\, competition from domestic grazing animals\, and introduced diseases. The artists who have created works for this show are deeply concerned for the fate of this fragile planet and all its inhabitants.

SUMMARY:Coastal Cleanup Day
DESCRIPTION:Coastal Cleanup Day is a local and international event held every September to clean our beaches and waterways. \nWhat to Bring?\nJust like any cleanup event\, it’s a good idea to wear closed-toed shoes\, bring your own reusable water bottle\, and wear sunscreen and other sun protection like hats or sunglasses. Go the extra mile and BYO-BOB (see below)! \nBYO-BOB\nWe encourage you to Bring Your Own Bag Or Bucket or a friend named Bob! Reusable gloves and friends of other names are welcome too. \nVolunteer efforts last year saved over 500 bags\, which were used for other cleanups throughout the year. The less trash we generate for the event the better it is for the environment. \nDo we need to bring our own supplies?\nNo\, but it is highly encouraged. While we want to have the cleanest and greenest cleanup possible\, we’ll provide recycling and trash bags\, gloves\, and data cards for volunteers. However\, don’t be surprised if you only get one bag or one glove! After all\, our primary goal is to reduce…and then reuse and recycle. \nAges Requirements and Youth Volunteers\nWe welcome all ages at Coastal Cleanup Day. Most of our sites are appropriate for children\, but if you see a location that requires lots of walking\, make sure your kids can handle it. We also require a responsible adult to sign for any child under 18.

SUMMARY:Whale Rock Music & Arts Festival
DESCRIPTION:Two Days of Wine-loving\, Peace\, and Jammin’ in the Vines!\nTickets: $50 – $90 \nFounded by a couple of Paso Robles winemaking pioneers\, Whale Rock Music & Arts Festival organically came about by way of Niels and Bimmer Udsen’s longtime commitment to supporting the arts and their local community. \nThe Udsens established Castoro Cellars in 1983\, and together with sons Luke and Max and daughter in law Lauren\, threw a rockin’ 30th anniversary party they called Beaverstock in 2013. The event was such a hit that they decided to make it an annual gig\, and have been at it ever since. Growing considerably over its first four years\, Beaverstock attendance hit a record 4\,000 in 2016. \nThe family changed the name of the festival in 2017\, courtesy of the Woodstock folks and their attorneys taking issue with the Beaverstock moniker. Whale Rock Music & Arts Festival was their natural choice\, as the event takes place in the Udsen’s Whale Rock Vineyard. No matter the name\, the spirit\, format\, and soul of the original event lives on. \nProceeds from the inaugural fest were donated to MUST! Charities\, a local non-profit that supports under privileged children in the local community. The family has continued that benevolent tradition each year\, donating proceeds to both the Templeton Education Foundation and the Templeton High School Band. The Udsens are proud to say that contributions to date total more than $50\,000!

Set right here on the Central Coast\, The Karaoke Kid is a musical parody of classic 1980’s\nmovies like The Karate Kid. But then he meets a mysterious old master\, Mrs. Muskogee (Sierra Wells)\, who trains him in the ancient art of karaoke. Along the way\, Daniel falls in love with the popular girl (Rachel Tietz) and starts finding his voice. Can he overcome his fears and win the Five Cities Karaoke Contest? Find out in this loving tribute to 80’s and ‘90s music that’s fun for the whole family. The show is directed and written by Dan Schultz\, lyrics by Colleen Perry\, choreography by Zach Johnson\,\nand musical direction by Kevin Lawson. \nFollowing each performance of The Karaoke Kid is the Melodrama’s new vaudeville revue\, The Great Outdoors.
