SUMMARY:GOING GOING GONE
DESCRIPTION:Our planet has already begun to experience the effects of the sixth mass extinction of flora and fauna. The last one occurred 65 million years ago – triggered by a meteorite crashing into the Earth that resulted in the extinction of 75% of the species. Today scientists believe that if current patterns continue within 300 years 75% of the species of plants and animals we now know of will be gone. Our catastrophic ‘meteorite’ does not come from space but from us- it is a result of human activities including habitat encroachment and fragmentation\, climate change from CO2 emissions\, hunting\, pollution\, competition from domestic grazing animals\, and introduced diseases. The artists who have created works for this show are deeply concerned for the fate of this fragile planet and all its inhabitants.

SUMMARY:Vina Robles: Pepper & Tribal Seeds with special guests Fortunate Youth and Aloha Radio
DESCRIPTION:7:00 PM / Doors open @ 5:30 PM \nAlt Reggae pioneers Pepper and Tribal Seeds will co-headline at the Vina Robles Amphitheatre on September 21\, joined by their friends and special guests Fortunate Youth and Aloha Radio. \nWith over 500\,000 records sold\, national television appearances and their music featured in a variety of movies\, television shows\, and video game soundtracks\, Pepper will perform live on the heels of their latest release\, OHANA. Pepper has had two Top 20 “Alternative Songs” hitswith “FKARND” peaking at 19 and No Shame’s “No Control\,” peaking at Number 18. Both “FKARND” and “No Control” have received over 14\,000 spins to date. “Give It Up\,” off their album KONA TOWN peaked at 34 on the charts and has been spun over 21\,000 times. \nIn Hawaiian culture\, “ohana” means family\, a word that practically defines Pepper and makes a very fitting title for the trio’s latest album on their own LAW Records. Formed in Kailua-Kona\, Hawaii by Kaleo Wassman\, Bret Bollinger and Yesod Williams\, the now California-based trio relied on their longtime friendship and creative partnership to self-produce (their first time)and record Ohana in their newly established Kona Inn Recording Studioin Redondo Beach (former studio home to Pennywise). With Ohana\, Pepper was able to bridge their past with their future. The first single\, “Vacation\,” bassist Bret Bollinger describes as “…if James Brown and The Beach Boys got together and had way too many Mai Tai’s\,” while “Start You Up” and “Never Ending Summer” demonstrate that with Ohana\, Pepper is on a whole new level and better than ever. \nBased in San Diego\, rock-reggae band Tribal Seeds come at their music from a different angle\, more influenced by bands like Steel Pulse and Aswad than the common touchstone of Sublime. Formed in 2005 by the Jacobo brothers\, singer Steven and producer Tony-Ray\, the group issued its debut album\, Youth Rebellion\, that same year. The album was the first of many to be released on the group’s own label\, including a self-titled album in 2008 plus The Harvest from 2009. The Soundwaves EP followed in 2011\, while 2014’s Representing cracked the Billboard 200 albums chart. The album featured guest appearances from Don Carlos\, Mykal Rose\, and Midnite’s Vaughn Benjamin. \nIn March 2017\, Tribal Seeds won the San Diego Music Award for Artist of the Year. A new single followed\, entitled “Rude Girl” which debuted among iTunes Hot Singles in the Reggae genre. The band is currently recording their fifth full length album\, schedule for release in early 2018.
