SUMMARY:Melodrama presents Baskerville - A Sherlock Holmes Mystery
DESCRIPTION:Get your deerstalker cap on — the play’s afoot! Comedic genius Ken Ludwig (Lend Me a Tenor\, Moon Over Buffalo) transforms the classic The Hound of the Baskervilles into a murderously funny adventure featuring 5 actors playing dozens of roles. The male heirs of the Baskerville line are being dispatched one by one. To find their killer\, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson must brave the desolate moors before a family curse dooms its newest heir. Does a wild hellhound prowl the moors of Devonshire? Can our heroes discover the truth in time? Join the fun and see how far from elementary the truth can be.

SUMMARY:Cal Poly to Host March 1 Panel Discussion on Men’s Place in #MeToo Movement
DESCRIPTION:SAN LUIS OBISPO — Cal Poly campus leaders will participate in a March 1 panel discussion on engaging men in the #MeToo movement. The event is open to the public and will run 3:30 to 5 p.m. in University Union Room 220. \nRecognizing that the struggle to end sexual violence is rising to greater prominence\, the Cal Poly panel will discuss a variety of topics related to men in the #MeToo movement\, including privilege and power\, the #MeToo backlash\, and tangible steps for immediate change. \n“I see this discussion as a wonderful opportunity to create a meaningful dialogue at Cal Poly about an important movement in our country\,” said Vice President for Student Affairs Keith Humphrey\, who will serve as one of the panelists. “I’m looking forward sharing my thoughts and gaining some new perspective on these issues.” \nAdded Christina Kaviani\, director of the Cal Poly Safer and Men and Masculinity programs: “If we can get more males talking about ending sexism\, we can begin challenging the normalization of sexual and dating/domestic violence. Through conversations\, we have the potential to be role models and change behaviors that are hurting men and women.” \nJoining Humphrey on the panel will be Jamie Patton\, assistant vice president\, Diversity and Inclusion; Mardel Baldwin\, assistant director\, Student Academic Services; Jose Leon\, lead coordinator\, Cross Cultural Centers; and Nick Bilich\, coordinator\, Men and Masculinity Program. \nThe event is hosted by Cal Poly’s Men and Masculinity Program\, which engages students regarding gender-based violence. The program was created with the purpose of establishing positive masculine gender norms on campus and responding to men involved in incidences of gender-based violence with restorative support through education\, advocacy and mentorship. SUMMARY:Cal Poly Arts Presents Eddie Izzard
DESCRIPTION:Eddie Izzard is arguably one of today’s top comedians. Cal Poly Arts just announced that the fan-favorite entertainer is returning to the Performing Arts Center on Thursday\, March 1\, 2018\, 7:30 p.m. with his brand-new “Believe Me” tour. \nTickets go on sale to the public at noon\, Friday\, January 5. \nIzzard’s “Believe Me” tour is a funny\, emotional show that reveals the man behind the stand-up – with all of the fascination with the ridiculous that fans expect from an Eddie Izzard performance. The result is an expectantly funny yet emotionally charged evening.” – The Reviews Hub \nCal Poly Arts presented Izzard in 2012 and 2015; both shows sold out. \nTickets for the performance range from $40 – $85 and may be purchased in advance at the Cal Poly Ticket Office\, Monday – Saturday\, noon to 6 p.m.\, located on Grand Avenue on the Cal Poly campus; by phone at 805/756-4849; online at www.calpolyarts.org. \nNote: Ages 17+; adult content/strong political views \nSponsored by Bob & Tonya Omdahl \nFor more information on all Cal Poly Arts events\, including audio and video samples\, please visit www.calpolyarts.org.
