SUMMARY:Scary Poppins at The Great American Melodrama
DESCRIPTION:SHOWTIMES: Wednesday through Friday at 7 p.m.\, Saturday at 3 and 7 p.m.\, and Sunday at 6 p.m. \nIt’s Super-Nanny-Gone-Ballistic-Expialidocious! The Great American Melodrama presents the hilarious musical spoof Scary Poppins\, opening September 20. \nScary Poppins tells the story of Jack and Jill Peabody (Ben Abbott and Annali Fuchs-Wackowski) who live in London with their widowed father\, Professor Peabody (Jeff Salsbury). He’s a nutty inventor with little time for his children. When he hires a nanny\, though\, the whole family gets more than they bargained for: instead of Mary Poppins\, they get her twin sister\, Scary Poppins! This Poppins is a frightening creature who arrives with creepy music\, mind control powers\, and a host of wacky friends. But when the evil Russian ambassador (Billy Breed) shows up\, it’s up to Scary to save the day. Written by Ben Millet\, with direction and choreography by Eric Hoit\, this show is full of outrageous characters\, hilarious song satires and pop culture references. It’s a “practically perfect” parody for the whole family! \nFollowing each performance of Scary Poppins is the Halloween Party Vaudeville Revue. It’s no trick\, this new revue is a treat! The talented performers of the Melodrama are hosting a special Halloween costume party. Everyone is invited to hear them sing spooky favorites\, tell corny jokes\, and dance the night away! The new revue is a hilarious send up the Halloween season. Rachel Tietz directs and Michael Wilkins provides musical direction and accompaniment. \nThe Melodrama’s in-house snack bar features great food and drinks served before the show and during intermissions. Tickets are $21 to $28\, with discounts available for groups\, seniors\, students\, active military\, and children. For more information and to purchase tickets\, call the Melodrama Box Office\, at 805-489-2499\, or visit www.americanmelodrama.com. The Great American Melodrama is located on Highway 1 in Oceano\, just three miles south of Pismo Beach. The Melodrama has been providing professional family entertainment on the Central Coast since 1975.

SUMMARY:SunWork Presents: SLO Solar & Heat Pump Home Tour
DESCRIPTION:For Immediate Release \nSeptember 28\, 2018 \n  \nContact:         Paul Meagher\, Volunteer \nSunWork Renewable Energy Projects \ncell: 650-391-7508; paul@sunwork.org \nsunwork.org; event webpage: sunwork.org/events \nSLO Adds New Dimension to October 13 National Solar Tour \nLocal Homeowners to Showcase a Broad Array of Clean Energy Solutions \nSan Luis Obispo\, CA\, September 28\, 2018 – In October\, San Luis Obispo will join scores of communities across the nation by participating in the 23rd Annual National Solar Tour\, the largest grassroots solar event in the United States. \nSan Luis Obispo is taking the Solar Tour concept to a new level.  On Saturday\, October 13\, the SLO Solar & Heat Pump Home Tour will showcase an array of clean energy solutions\, including rooftop solar\, heat pumps\, electric vehicles and efficiency measures.  These are approaches that can not only help homeowners cut their energy bills\, but also help the city meet its ambitious goal of carbon neutrality by 2035. \nThe free event will kickoff from 11:30am to 1pm at the Ludwick Community Center\, 864 Santa Rosa St.\, San Luis Obispo\, with presentations on clean energy technologies from experts.  Each attendee will then receive a map of the San Luis Obispo homes participating in the tour and learn which technologies will be showcased at which homes.  From 1:00 – 5:00pm\, attendees can visit the homes to find out more about clean energy solutions and talk with homeowners about their real-world experiences. \nAccording to Eric Veium\, Chair of the SLO Climate Coalition\, local energy solutions will play important roles in achieving the city’s goal to reach carbon neutrality by 2035.  “To achieve carbon neutrality\, we are working to decarbonize electricity and then electrify everything.  Homeowners and landlords\, in particular\, should be aware of the options available for their homes and rentals to save money and cut carbon. Landlords can put solar on their rentals and then become the utility.  Everyone wins!” \n  \nFor more information and to register for the free Solar & Heat Pump Home Tour on Saturday\, October 13 go to www.sunwork.org/events.  SunWork Renewable Energy Projects\, a nonprofit dedicated to expanding the use of solar and other clean renewable energy technologies\, is sponsoring the tour. \n  \nAbout SunWork \nSunWork Renewable Energy Projects is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit that educates the public about electrification\, trains individuals interested in green careers\, and installs solar photovoltaic systems with the help of trained volunteers working under the direction of its professional staff. SunWork installs systems for nonprofit organizations and for homeowners with low electric bills. Its unique model lets it deliver solar power at lower cost\, allowing more homeowners and nonprofits to make the switch to solar. Visit www.sunwork.org. \nAbout the SLO Climate Coalition \nThe mission of the SLO Climate Coalition is to leverage community expertise\, creativity and resources in order to multiply the region’s efforts to become carbon-free.  Visit www.carbonfreeslo.org. \n# # # \nMedia Contacts: \nPaul Meagher\, Volunteer\, SunWork \n650-391-7508\, paul@sunwork.org \nsunwork.org; event webpage: sunwork.org/events \nOther Contacts: \n  \nEric Veium\, Task Force Chair\, SLO Climate Coalition \n805-835-3669\, eric@carbonfreeslo.org \n  \nMike Balma\, Development Director\, SunWork \n650-678-2213\, mike@sunwork.org \n  \n
