SUMMARY:KCBX Brings the Live Oak Music Festival to the Radio
DESCRIPTION:KCBX will present a special virtual version of the annual Live Oak Music Festival June 19-21\, 2020. After canceling the in-person festival due to COVID-19 concerns\, Live Oak On The Radio will broadcast and stream online at KCBX and will feature more than 30 hours of recorded performances from previous festivals and live in studio performances\, as well as a virtual artisan marketplace and online auction. KCBX is encouraging fans to keep the spirit of the festival alive by ‘festing in place’ at home or in campgrounds.\n\nOver the 3-day virtual festival\, KCBX will be airing recordings from some of the most loved performances over 30 years of past Live Oak Music Festivals\, as well as special live-streamed concerts by local performers on a stage at Bill Gaines Audio\, made possible by a partnership with Big Big SLO. Long-time festival emcee\, Joe Craven\, will make special appearances throughout the weekend\, artisans will be selling crafts through the Virtual Vendor Village\, and there will be an online fundraising auction.\n\nThe annual Live Oak Music Festival is a beloved tradition for generations of families. Feedback from annual festival goers over the festival’s cancelation and subsequent virtual fest has been overwhelmingly positive. Greg Perry\, KCBX Development Director says\, “We’re excited to see how this event resonates with our listeners and Live Oak followers. There’s already been a lot of positive feedback so I’m expecting this to be an amazing three days of music and community engagement”.\n\nMany prior festival attendees have shared their plans to pitch tents\, dance and jam with family in their backyards or campgrounds\, all while listening to Live Oak On The Radio. Listeners can connect with fellow Live Oakies by tagging their social media photos and videos with #LiveOakOnTheRadio.\n\nThe full schedule of performances can be found at liveoakfest.org. Live Oak On The Radio will be streaming June 19-21 at KCBX.org\, liveoakfest.org\, and broadcast on the radio at 90.1 in San Luis Obispo\, 89.5 in Santa Barbara\, 81.1 in Cayucos\, 95.1 in Lompoc\, 91.7 from Paso Robles to Salinas\, and 90.9 in Santa Ynez\, Avila Beach and Cambria.\n\nThe Live Oak Music Festival is a major fundraiser for KCBX\, and fans are encouraged to donate online\, purchase Live Oak On The Radio commemorative shirts\, shop in the Virtual Vendor Village\, and bid on auction items like the 2020 Live Oak quilt handmade by Dorothy Deis\, all of which will be available on the festival website\, liveoakfest.org.\n\n  \nAbout KCBX: \nKCBX Public Radio is a non-profit FM radio station and NPR member station founded in 1975.
