SUMMARY:7:30 AM | Virtual Good Morning SLO - November
DESCRIPTION:View this month’s Digital Good Morning SLO Flyers HERE \n\nGood Morning SLO has gone virtual! Grab breakfast and coffee and join us for this month’s virtual Good Morning SLO. To preserve some community connection in this time of being apart\, you’ll have the chance to interact with speakers by asking your most pressing questions. Zoom invite will be sent upon registration. \nThank you to this month’s featured sponsor: \n \n\nNovember topics include: \nGLITZ\, GLAM & EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN\nBurlesque\, drag and avant-garde performance art represent an area of cultural growth on the Central Coast. Moreover\, these forms of expression can build community and create a sense of belonging for those who don’t always see themselves in the mainstream. Eve Riot will update us about this resilient group and how they are managing to still create community during these challenging times. \n\nTHE CHANGING LANDSCAPE OF INSURANCE\nCalifornia’s intense fire seasons followed by destructive mudflows have happened right here on the Central Coast. The changing climate is radically altering the places we live\, and now it is having a direct impact on insurance premiums and companies. Morris & Garritano’s Mark Anelli and Marie Bloomstine will opine on what to consider when making major financial investments and provide insight on what the next few years might hold in the home insurance industry. \n\nCELEBRATION\, COMMUNICATION & COVID\nIt’s the most wonderful time of the year\, but also a time that presents opportunities for some uniquely uncomfortable and hard to navigate conversations. Steffanie Medina of Flow LLC will provide tools and tips for navigating the holiday season like a pro and preserving your own peace of mind in the process. \n\nFAMILY RECIPES\nIt’s been nearly five years since the first Mee Heng Low Family Cookbook was released\, an homage to recipes of the Gin family — owners of the iconic Chinatown restaurant until 1988. Andrew Gin will share the process of creating the second iteration and insight on carrying on the Gin family legacy in SLO. \n\nGETTING SCHOOLED\nTransitioning to virtual education has given K-12 administrators the biggest challenge of their careers. SLCUSD Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services Kimberly McGrath will share insight on actions the district has taken to support students with limited access to technology while also helping teachers navigate through the unknown. \n\nSLO MERRY & BRIGHT\nAs we close out this immensely challenging and unprecedented year\, many of us are looking forward to the joy of the holidays. Downtown SLO will be one place for our community to find some magic\, and Amber Karson of Karson Butler Events will share a sneak peak at how SLO will spark joy for us all this holiday season. \n\nThank you to our 2020 Good Morning SLO Annual Sponsors:\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n
