DESCRIPTION:This will be a great opportunity to get outdoors safely and enjoy easy\, moderate and advanced hikes where ever you are\, at your own pace\, while supporting advocacy for local foster children! \n\n\n\n\nCASA of San Luis Obispo County advocates for the best interests of abused and neglected children within the court system. CASA recruits\, trains\, and supervises volunteers who advocate for this vulnerable population with the goal of ensuring that each and every child grows up in a safe\, nurturing\, and permanent home. \n\nHow to participate:  \n\n\n\n\nRegistration begins April 1\, 2021. Join us to show your support for CASA’s help to abused and neglected children in our county\nInclusive modes of transportation welcomed! DESCRIPTION:Funding our Future: Auction & Drive Through BBQ for Student Scholarships \nRotary Club of San Luis Obispo – Online Auction & Drive Through BBQ Fundraiser for Local Student Scholarships  \n  \n \nDue to COVID-19\, the Rotary Club of San Luis Obispo had to cancel its annual Spaghetti Western Dinner & Silent Auction for the second year in a row\, which funded the Challenge Scholarship Program. \nInstead of the in-person event\, the Rotary Club of SLO will be holding an online auction for Student Scholarships taking place\, May 20th – June 2nd. Winning bidders can pick up auction items on Sunday June 6th\, at Mechanics Bank in San Luis Obispo. \nThe Rotary Club will also be offering a Drive-Through BBQ during auction pick-up on Sunday June 6th. BBQ tickets can be purchased online for $35 in advance at slorotary.org ($40 day-of) and will include your choice of Chicken / Tri-Tip / Vegetarian\, PLUS: Sausage\, beans\, sourdough bread\, & cookies… each meal will be enough to feed 2! \nThe Rotary Club of San Luis Obispo’s Challenge Scholarship Program provides scholarships to local students who have faced significant personal challenges and excelled in their studies. During her 10-year tenure\, she held many positions\, including Chief Operations Officer\, and led the acquisition of land and building of their new 20\,000 square foot headquarters. \nIn her current role\, Wendy has leveraged her experience and expertise to expand ECHO’s reach and fulfill their mission to empower people in SLO County to make positive change by providing food\, shelter\, and supportive services. Some of the recent initiatives the Wendy has led include growing ECHO from 50 beds at one facility to 140 beds at three facilities\, increasing staff from 6 to 20 professionals\, and adding 10 community programs that offer mental health support\, financial literacy and job placement. \nA Central Coast lifer\, Wendy Lewis grew up in Lompoc and moved to SLO County in 1986 to attend Cal Poly. There she met her husband Joe Lewis and 12 years later\, moved to Atascadero to raise their sons Jacob and Jeremy.
