SUMMARY:Every Brilliant Thing - SLO REP
DESCRIPTION:BUY TICKETS\n\n\nPG-13 \nEvery Brilliant Thing\nWritten by Duncan Macmillan with Jonny Donahoe\nDirected by Suzy Newman\nScenic Design by David Linfield \nEvery Brilliant Thing has been rescheduled from it’s original performance dates in March/April 2020. Specific show dates are currently TBD but we will have more information about tickets and SLO REP’s reopening protocols very soon. Stay tuned! \n  \nTentatively October 1-17 \nThu-Sat @ 7 pm / Sat & Sun @ 2 pm \n  \nABOUT THE SHOW\nYou’re seven years old. Mom’s in the hospital. Dad says she’s “done something stupid.” She finds it hard to be happy. So you start to make a list of everything that’s brilliant about the world. Everything worth living for: 1. Ice cream. 2. Kung Fu movies. 3. Staying up past your bedtime and being allowed to watch TV. 4. The color yellow. You leave it on her pillow. You know she read it because she’s corrected your spelling. Soon\, the list will take on a life of its own. This funny and moving play is a tribute to resilience and hope—as it enlists you\, the audience\, to tell this heartfelt story. \nEvery Brilliant Thing runs approximately 70 minutes with no intermission. There will be talk-backs with the cast and mental health experts and advocates after most shows. We strongly encourage audience members to remain for these interesting and informative sessions. \nDEPRESSION AND SUICIDE PREVENTION RESOURCES\nWe can all help prevent suicide. SUMMARY:Open Studios Art Tour w/ SLO County Arts Council
DESCRIPTION:The San Luis Obispo County Open Studios Art Tour\, a program of SLO County Arts Council\, takes place over two weekends in October each year. Free to the public\, fine artists and crafters open their studios to showcase their art and share their process. Visitors create their own self-guided tour using the downloadable catalog. \nOver 120 artists countywide are opening their studios to give visitors a glimpse into their creative worlds. “We are excited to include 30 artists who are new to participating in the Open Studios Tour this year\,” said Neal Breton\, president of the Arts Council board of directors. \nThis year\, after facing financial hardships through the pandemic\, the Council has opted to forego the traditional printed catalog of artists in favor of a digital artist directory. “The Arts Council board members were all in agreement that while the catalog is nice to have\, the reality of the world right now requires a digital option\,” added Breton. “The cool thing about the artist directory is that we can add to it and feature other types of artists and performers\, so ultimately\, it will be a great resource to access artists of all kinds in the community.” \nMore information about the Open Studios Tour and downloadable maps can be found at artsobispo.org/OSAT\, and artist profiles can be found at members.artsobispo.org.
