SUMMARY:SLO Museum of Art Presents: For the Sake of Keeping
DESCRIPTION:For the Sake of Keeping is an exhibition of contemporary fine craft artworks created in the spirit of remembrance and commemoration. It will be on display at the SLO Museum of Art from June 3rd – August 1st\, 2022. \n“As a curator who frequently visits artists’ studios\, I find that many are in their homes where their most precious possessions are also on display. Their spaces are often filled with work by fellow artists\, trinkets\, or common objects that have been transformed into keepsakes. Occasionally\, artists even hang on their own walls work they created that was never meant for public viewing\, but rather an intimate reflection of their own personal practice. The visits and conversations that occur around these objects allow for deeper insights into the artist’s identity and the world they create for themselves. \nDuring my time visiting the studios of members of the Central Coast Craftmakers\, I have become more and more curious about the personal nature of craftmaking and the objects’ intimate and relatable origins. The artworks on display in this exhibition were all selected because of the story or intention they hold for the artist\, and the living attempt to preserve their own most precious memories. Many pieces even left the interior walls of the artist’s or loved ones’ homes to be displayed here at the Museum. Some were meant to be gifted to children\, some meant to commemorate a moment\, some even meant to house cremated ashes — what connects all these works together is the unmistakable intention to remember.” \nThis exhibition is hosted in partnership with the Central Coast Craftmakers. \nWritten by Courtney Davis\, Curator of For the Sake of Keeping

DESCRIPTION:Summer Surf Camps For Kids (Grades K-8) \nWeek-Long Day Camps Starting June 6th\, 2022 Until August 26th\, 2022 in Beautiful Pismo Beach! \nOur week-long day camps run Monday through Friday from 8:30-1:30 each week this summer starting June 6th. The last week of camp is the week of August 22nd. Camps are limited to no more than 10 kids a week. DESCRIPTION:YPNG’s Fall softball season will begin in mid-August. The season is 10 weeks long\, with games taking place every week (excluding holidays). \nGames are played at El Chorro Regional Park (across from Cuesta College) or at Santa Rosa Park in SLO with starting times at either 6:30\, 7:40\, or 8:50. \nOnce signups are completed and coaches assigned\, teams will be drafted and you will be contacted by your assigned coach who will also provide you with your team t-shirt and game schedule. SUMMARY:Goodwill Central Coast the Back-to-School Backpacks Giveaway
DESCRIPTION:San Luis Obispo radio station Wild 106.1 will hold a three-week promotion from July 15-Aug. 10\, rewarding one deserving elementary school with 100 filled backpacks from Goodwill. Wild 106.1 will reach out to its listeners for two weeks\, asking them to nominate a school in SLO that deserves and needs the backpacks. The Top 10 schools will be featured on the station’s website and listeners will be asked to vote for the most deserving one. The winning school will be announced on air the following week\, and Goodwill will present the backpacks on the front steps of the winning school.

SUMMARY:Concerts in the Plaza: Dante Marsh and the Vibe Setters plus Jineanne Coderre
DESCRIPTION:Concerts in the Plaza\, presented by Sunset Honda and hosted by Downtown SLO\, is the largest free concert series on the Central Coast. \nConcerts will be held every Friday from June 24 – August 26 from 4:30 – 8:00 PM at Mission Plaza in Downtown San Luis Obispo. \nAll concerts are free to the public! \n\nThe Vibe Setters first embarked on their musical voyage of discovery together as a tight-knit Band in 2019. But their origin goes back earlier to when the band members grew up listening to a variety of musical genres that played an influential role in shaping their paths as musicians and ultimately led them to join forces. The Vibe Setters has collectively found their signature sound and offers something different and unique to their fans by creating and sharing original music that is unmistakably unique. \nCentral Coast singer/songwriter\, Jineanne Coderre melts melodies of R&B\, pop and smooth jazz.  She is also known as the “singing dental hygienist”\, but her passion is deeply steeped in music.  You can find her singing at some of the most gorgeous wineries on the central coast with her trio\, sometimes solo or guesting with local bands.
