SUMMARY:Alyssa Monks: Be Perfectly Still\, A Retrospective
DESCRIPTION:The SLO Museum of Art is pleased to present the first museum retrospective by contemporary artist Alyssa Monks. The exhibition will bring together paintings that span the arc of Monks’ career\, from the early 2000’s to works created during the pandemic. Through paintings that are expressive\, lush\, and often intimate\, Monks conveys the very essence of being human through works that meditate on love\, loss\, and the perennial search for self. \nThe paintings included in this exhibition feature large-scale portraits of Monks and those closest to her\, portrayed in vulnerable or intimate contexts. Often capturing fragmented elements of a scene\, or layering together various spaces and moments\, Monks’ works disorient the viewer and invite reflection on one’s own vulnerability. Through the use of thickly applied brushstrokes\, and her tendency to flip the background and foreground in her work using semi-transparent filters of glass\, vinyl\, steam\, water and or foliage over shallow spaces\, Monks creates surface tension in her work that eschews easy interpretation of her subject matter. \nThis exhibit is showing from August 27th – November 13th at the SLO Museum of Art. DESCRIPTION:You are all invited to join \nCoffee & Conversation with Stacy Inman at The Vespera Resort \nStacy will host a morning meet & greet by treating anyone interested to coffee/tea at the gorgeous Vespera Resort. \nThis will be a casual setting and you are encouraged to bring any questions that you might have for Stacy regarding her running for Pismo Beach City Council. This is an opportunity to get to know Stacy along with understanding the passion she has for the City of Pismo Beach. Businesses and residents are welcome. \nBreakfast options will also be available for purchase through Pequin Coastal Cocina. The breakfast burrito is always a quick and yummy option for those of you on the go. \nAlthough this is an open invitation it would be helpful if you registered in advance so that we can better manage the space and staff needs. We look forward to seeing you! \n\nAbout Stacy Inman \nStacy became involved in Pismo Beach from the time she moved here full time over 6 years ago\, and she has owned a home here for over 20 years. \nStacy began by being appointed by the City Council to a vacant seat on the Pismo Beach Planning Commission in October 2016\, even though she was a newcomer. Her fellow commissioners voted to have Stacy chair the Planning Commission for 3 years\, ultimately culminating in over 5 years of service and moving the town into the future ensuring that our growth is beautiful and well planned. \nWith a Business Administration Degree from Cal Berkeley\, Stacy has analyzed balance sheets and business plans and knows the ins and outs of how a City finances all of its many projects. \nWith a Law Degree from UC Davis\, Stacy has been a district attorney\, a county attorney and a school district attorney\, ultimately giving her great insight into a City’s needs for public safety\, security and quality of life. \nStacy’s Mom was a teacher who taught her to care for others\, and serve them. Stacy’s Father was a computer engineer which taught her how to make things work and create solutions. \nPismo needs a Council Member who will help the community\, the residents and the local business thrive\, while welcoming visitors and at the same time keeping our City delightful. One who will preserve our quality of life while maintaining the welcoming nature of our Classic California City. \nStacy’s characteristics of hard work\, expertise and energy will strengthen our amazing City. \nStacy stands for… \nConserve\, Sustain and Find Water \nWe must conserve and sustain the water that we have\, while looking promptly to our future. We must look to Desalination to ensure our future. \nParking and Traffic \nWe must protect and enhance our parking assets in our residential areas and our downtown and improve the flow of traffic. I will work to have residents obtain free parking in the downtown area. \nMaintain and Enhance Our Quality of Life \nOur Classic Beach Town charm and local thriving community must be protected to ensure our extraordinary residential quality of life. \nMaintain and Increase Exceptional City Staff \nWe have amazing\, smart\, and dedicated City personnel which we must continue to retain as well as recruit.

SUMMARY:Moonwise Wellness + Yoga Presents: Prenatal Yoga
DESCRIPTION:This prenatal yoga class offers a community for pregnant people to connect with the body in a supportive way\, cultivating gentle awareness and loving kindness with the guidance of the breath. We will find sanctuary within and harness a balance between effort and ease. This practice offers poses\, breath work and meditation as resources for both on the mat and beyond to prepare for birth and parenthood. Please consult your healthcare provider before participation in the class.
