SUMMARY:SLO Museum of Art Presents: Home/Work
DESCRIPTION:Home/Work presents the work of fourteen contemporary artists whose work together questions our collective experiences of home. The works gathered in this exhibition reflect on the unique and intimate experiences of the artists who made them — and invite us to consider how we achieve balance in our busy lives of making home and making work. Not designed to be exhaustive\, this show invites the public to consider their own experiences\, reflecting on the overlap of home and work\, and all that is in between. Including new works by emerging artists\, and recontextualized works by world-renowned leading feminist artists\, this exhibition asks the timely question: what does home mean to you? \nParticipating artists include: Brandy Eve Allen\, Zalika Azim\, Kate Barbee\, Phoebe Boswell\, Andrea Bowers\, Allana Clarke\, Geoffrey Chadsey\, Judy Chicago\, Mary Kelly\, Emmett Moore\, Sophia Narrett\, Woody de Othello\, Greg Scott\, and Chiffon Thomas.

SUMMARY:7:30 AM | Good Morning SLO - November 2022
DESCRIPTION:Your community newspaper brought to life.\n\nGood Morning SLO is our platform for sharing ideas\, news and inspiration. A monthly program that brings community leaders\, business owners\, nonprofit executives and staffers together\, and enables us to reconnect\, engage and learn from each other.\n\nOur goal is to provide insight into business\, community and legislative issues and share the stories of those making a difference. We want audience members to leave with ideas and information about how to better their personal and professional lives.\n\nGood Morning SLO happens on the fourth Thursday of every month except November when it is on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.\n\n\n\nAN UPDATE FROM CUESTA COLLEGE\n\nStudents at every level had to learn to navigate the pandemic in different ways. The students at Cuesta College are no exception. Instruction has returned to in-person\, but student participation has changed. The Cuesta College Associated Student President\, Darius Jones\, will be joining us to tell us how education and campus life has altered.\n\n\n\nFEEDING THOSE IN NEED\n\nInflation has made all of our lives more expensive\, but it has been especially devastating for those barely getting by. The SLO Food Bank has seen both its client pool grow and the prices to purchase vital food supplies increase. Garret Olson\, CEO for the SLO Food Bank\, will talk about how they are managing through this new crisis.\n\n\n\nA TOUR OF HONOR\n\nTaking a moment to pause and be grateful to our Central Coast heroes is more important now than it’s ever been. We invited Robert Tolan\, Vice Chairman of Honor Flight Central Coast to share their best stories and celebrate their work bringing local veterans to DC to experience their memorials.\n\n\n\nHOLIDAY CHEER IS HERE\n\nThe holidays have always been a wonderful time to experience downtown\, but the pandemic created an opportunity to think creatively about new ways to celebrate. Those changes have made this holiday season bigger and better than ever. We asked Downtown SLO’s Bettina Swigger to come share what this year’s plans have in store.\n\n\n\nPREVENTING PRETERM LABOR\n\nPreterm labor is the leading cause of death for infants under the age of one. Donald Lee was facing that reality when his wife went into labor at 24 weeks. Fortunately\, Donald’s family pulled through\, but the experience inspired him to help others facing the same dilemma. Donald will join us to share his journey to creating Novocuff\, a device that can save lives.\n\n\n\nSERVING UP TRADITION\n\nPumpkin pie\, roasted turkey\, cranberry sauce\, mashed potatoes and gravy. These dishes have become synonymous with Thanksgiving\, but have you ever stopped to think of why? We asked local food writer Jaime Lewis to dish up the stories behind the fare we take for granted when we sit down to give gratitude.\n\n\n\nMELODY’S MELODIES\n\nThe Chamber’s familiar\, resident singer-songwriter Melody Klemin will close out Good Morning SLO for 2022 with a holiday-inspired medley and some musical joy.\n\n\n\nThank you to this month’s featured sponsor:\n\n\n\n\n\nThank you to our 2022 Good Morning SLO Annual Sponsors:
