SUMMARY:SLO Museum of Art Presents: And Also... By Charlie Rugg
DESCRIPTION:The SLO Museum of Art is will be featuring the exhibit And Also… by Charlie Rugg from March 3rd until May 29th. \nCharlie Rugg is an abstract and portrait oil painter based in San Luis Obispo\, California. Rugg’s work converges on exploring the collective nature of elements that make up human experience\, and how they may be used to create a moment of perspective removed from the self. Rugg’s And Also… exhibition highlights our instinct to construct and define existence around story and the shape of the emergent narrative that comes to life when our stories are viewed as one. \nSLOMA is open from 11 AM until 5 PM every day of the week except for Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Admission is free.

SUMMARY:Woods Humane Society Presents: Spring Shelter Break
DESCRIPTION:Adoption Fees Reduced to $50 from March 18 through April 2 to Make Space for Incoming Animals \nAs many prepare for spring break vacations\, Woods Humane Society is preparing for a flood of spring kittens and puppies in need of shelter by hosting a Spring Shelter Break adoption promotion from March 18th through April 2nd\, 2023. All adoption fees will be reduced to $50 (plus license fees for dogs and puppies) to encourage adoptions and help make space for the hundreds of animals it expects to take in over the coming months. \n“As temperatures warm\, unaltered dogs and cats begin reproducing\, which results in a deluge of young animals in need of food\, shelter and medical care\,” explains Woods Interim CEO Emily L’Heureux. “From April through December\, we will take in around 800 kittens or more\, many of whom are newly born\, sick and in need of round-the-clock care.” \nIn anticipation of the annual rise in baby animals that stretches the shelter’s capacity to the max\, L’Heureux hopes the Spring Shelter Break adoption promotion will help clear space and find loving homes for the animals currently available for adoption. \n“Typically\, when the busy travel and vacation season begins\, we see adoptions slow down overall. By significantly reducing fees for two weeks\, we aim to boost awareness and interest\, while also removing some of the initial financial barriers to adopting.” \nL’Heureux also notes that spring is a great time for locals to consider adopting\, as warmer and longer days invite outdoor excursions with a dog. “A four-legged friend makes a perfect companion for spring break and beyond!” \nThe Spring Shelter Break promotion begins March 18th and runs through April 2nd\, 2023. All animals have been spayed/neutered\, vaccinated\, microchipped\, licensed\, and treated for parasites. Adoptions also include a voluntary 30 days of pet insurance and a free wellness exam at a local vet clinic. \nWoods Humane Society is located at 875 Oklahoma Ave.\, San Luis Obispo\, CA\, 93405\, and at 2300 Ramona Rd.\, Atascadero\, CA\, 93422\, and is open to the public daily from 12-5 p.m.\, with adoption hours from 12-4 p.m. For more information about Woods\, visit www.WoodsHumane.org or call (805) 543-9316.

SUMMARY:Woods Humane Society North County Presents: Pet Vaccine Clinic
DESCRIPTION:In celebration of National Pet Vaccination Month in March\, Woods Humane Society will provide free vaccinations for San Luis Obispo County pets on March 18\, 2023. The free vaccines are made possible through Petco Love’s national vaccination initiative\, which is providing another one million free pet vaccines to existing animal welfare partners\, including Woods Humane Society\, for family pets in need. \nParvovirus and distemper in dogs and panleukopenia in cats — the most prevalent deadly diseases affecting pets — are preventable with the simple DAPPv Canine and HCP Feline vaccines that will be offered for free at the clinic. Woods is partnering with Petco Love to make vaccines accessible and affordable for the estimated 30% of pet parents who do not take their pet to a veterinarian annually for preventative care. \nThe appointment-based Pet Vaccine Clinic for publicly owned pets will be held at Woods Humane Society’s North County campus at 2300 Ramona Road in Atascadero\, California on Saturday\, March 18th\, from 9:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. In addition to the Petco Love free DAPPv Canine and HCP Feline vaccines\, Woods will also offer other vaccines and services at low cost. \n“We are thrilled to again be able to offer the community a free pet vaccine clinic during March’s National Pet Vaccination Month thanks to the ongoing support of Petco Love\,” says Woods Interim CEO Emily L’Heureux. “These lifesaving vaccines are crucial to ensuring the health of local pets. We encourage SLO County pet owners to take advantage of this no-cost resource and make an appointment before openings fill up.” \n“It is heartbreaking when any pet suffers or dies from a disease that could have been prevented. It is further exacerbated when unvaccinated pets come into busy shelter kennels\, where these deadly diseases can spread quickly\, resulting in multiple deaths\, skyrocketing expenses\, and hindering saving pet lives\,” said Susanne Kogut\, Petco Love President. “By creating greater awareness and making this crucial preventative care more accessible to pets not currently receiving these lifesaving vaccines\, we can prevent the dangerous spread of disease.” \nFor more information about vaccine distribution\, contact Woods Humane Society by calling (805) 543-9316\, or visiting 875 Oklahoma Ave.\, San Luis Obispo\, CA 93405 or 2300 Ramona Rd.\, Atascadero\, CA 93422. Woods is open to the public daily from 12-5 p.m.\, with adoption hours from 12-4 p.m. Learn more about Petco Love’s lifesaving impact at PetcoLove.org.
