SUMMARY:SLO Museum of Art Presents: And Also... By Charlie Rugg
DESCRIPTION:The SLO Museum of Art is will be featuring the exhibit And Also… by Charlie Rugg from March 3rd until May 29th. \nCharlie Rugg is an abstract and portrait oil painter based in San Luis Obispo\, California. Rugg’s work converges on exploring the collective nature of elements that make up human experience\, and how they may be used to create a moment of perspective removed from the self. Rugg’s And Also… exhibition highlights our instinct to construct and define existence around story and the shape of the emergent narrative that comes to life when our stories are viewed as one. \nSLOMA is open from 11 AM until 5 PM every day of the week except for Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Admission is free.

SUMMARY:SLO Movement Arts Center Presents: Ballet Unbound
DESCRIPTION:Enter the world of Ballet Unbound where classicism meets modern convention\, where dance becomes emotion\, and where movement speaks. Featuring the choreography of Maartje Hermans and Ryan Lawrence\, 17 of the area’s most talented dancers will present two works of contemporary styling in this yearly celebration of everything that ballet is and everything it is not. \nThe first work\, by Ms. Hermans\, examines what it is to be alone together\, and together alone. In it\, she collaborates with sculptor and painter Guy Kinnear to bring unique scenic elements to the stage and create a world where the dancers carve space\, shift our perception of time\, and come together to create a work of individual expression that is much stronger than the sum of its parts. \nRyan Lawrence offers a remounting of his work\, Seasons End. Set to the Four Seasons\, our connection to nature is expounded\, the cyclical nature of life is explored\, and the human condition is laid bare. Praised for its scale and lasting imagery\, the work has received both local and statewide acclaim as sections of it were awarded 1st place at the California Dance Classics competition in 2018. \n
