Adam Parker Smith has a unique ability to address complex themes in a whimsical\, light-hearted way that makes his work incredibly accessible. \nAdam Parker Smith is a sculpture and installation artist. He attended the University of California at Santa Cruz (BA Painting\, 2000)\, the Tyler School of Art at Temple University (MFA Painting\, 2003)\, and the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture (2008).

Perkins was working as a potter and ceramics lab technician at a small arts college in Portland\, Oregon\, when he met Marcia C. Harvey\, who was there for the semester as an artist in residence in painting. Their first conversations were about art and poetry. At SLOMA\, they will be exhibiting together for the first time.

SUMMARY:SLOMA Lisa Solomon Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Profoundly interested in the idea of hybridization (sparked from her Hapa heritage – she is ½ Japanese and ½ Caucasian)\, Solomon’s mixed media works revolve thematically around discovering her heritage\, the notion of domesticity\, craft\, feminism\, and the pursuit of art as science/research. \nShe is obsessed with color and color theory and is drawn to found objects\, tending to alter them conceptually so that their meanings and original uses or intents are repurposed. She often fuses “wrong” things together – recontextualizing their original purposes\, and incorporating materials that inherently question and skirt the line between art and craft.

Distancia total: 3.4 millas/6 kilometros\, Cambio de la altura: 500 pies/152 metros\, Duración de la caminata: 3 horas. Nota\, 3.4 millas en 3 horas significa que la velocidad es lenta y el objetivo es prestar atención a las flores y plantas. Vamos a hacer una caminata en el sendero circuito Spring to Spring. Este sendero nos lleva a través del chaparral y bosques abiertos de encinos\, y ofrece las vistas dramáticas del mar. Todos son bienvenidos. \nEnjoy a native plant walk at the Pismo Preserve in English and Spanish on Tuesday\, June 20\, 2023 at 9am led by the San Luis Obispo Chapter of the California Native Plant Society and the Land Conservancy of SLO County. We will hike the Spring to Spring loop trail 3.4 miles and an elevation gain of 500 feet through chaparral and oak woodland with dramatic ocean views. Everyone is welcomed.
