DESCRIPTION:This election year will bring significant political changes to a Board of Supervisors that will cast votes on legislation affecting housing\, jobs and the regional economy for years to come. \nOn May 12 the SLO Chamber is bringing eight of the nine candidates together to answer your questions in a dynamic\, small group format. For the first time you will have the opportunity to sit with each candidate and discuss the concerns you have about your district and countywide issues in a small\, round-table conversation. \nDoors open at 11:40 a.m. and the program starts at 12:10 p.m. \nLudwick Center is located at 864 Santa Rosa St.\, on the corner of Palm and Santa Rosa streets \n\nAttending supervisor candidates include: \nDistrict 1 \nDale Gustin \nSteve Martin \nJohn Peschong \n\nDistrict 3 \nDan Carpenter \nAdam Hill \nDebbie Peterson \n\nDistrict 5 \nDebbie Arnold \nEric Michielssen \n\nModerator \nErica Stewart \nErica Stewart is the chair of the SLO Chamber’s Legislative Action Committee. Join us for a glass of wine and an intimate conversation with Bill Swanson and  executive editor of The Tribune\, Sandy Duerr. \n\nBill Swanson joined Raytheon in 1972 and held a wide range of leadership positions in his 42-plus year career with the Fortune 100 company. He retired in 2014 after serving as chairman and CEO for 10 years. \nDuring his tenure as CEO\, Raytheon’s sales grew 26 percent\, its stock price and dividend each increased three-fold\, and company debt was virtually eliminated. \nHe also strengthened Raytheon’s culture with a focus on core company values\, ethics\, diversity and the customer\, while transforming the company’s community engagement by championing corporate responsibility\, STEM education and armed services support. \nIn addition to his professional accomplishments\, he is an active member and leader on a variety of boards in the business\, education\, and non-profit sectors. A native of California\, Swanson graduated magna cum laude from Cal Poly with a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering and has an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Pepperdine University and an honorary Doctor of Science degree from Cal Poly.
