SUMMARY:Membership Mixer | Digital West and Trust Automation
DESCRIPTION:Every month SLO Chamber members gather after hours to catch up\, meet new members\, do a bit of networking and get an inside glance at a local business. \nMembership Mixers happen on the third Wednesday of every month and provide an opportunity for members to get to know each other and share business contacts all in the friendly confines of a member business. \nA benefit to all Chamber members\, these networking events provide the opportunity for the host to showcase their digs\, show off what they do and maybe even boast a little about the services they offer. \nAll members are welcome to invite a non-member as a one-time guest. The guest will be contacted at a later date about the benefits of a membership.

SUMMARY:Good Morning SLO | February
DESCRIPTION:A dynamic and informative 90-minute breakfast program specifically geared to San Luis Obispo business people. Held on the fourth Thursday of each month\, local experts spotlight a wide variety of community and business topics. \nDeadline to register is 5 p.m. Feb. 26\, unless it sells out prior. Want to ensure your seat at every Good Morning SLO? Sign up now for a 2019 Good Morning SLO Annual Pass. With many recent sell-outs\, a season pass is the best way to make sure you’re not left in the cold when the program heats up. Get yours today. \nThis month’s lead sponsor: \n \nThis month’s topics include: \nLIKE SANDS THROUGH AN HOURGLASS … \nTime is ticking on the Diablo Canyon power plant closure\, and area leaders have responded to the need to create more high-paying jobs and invigorate the local economy with a new effort called the Hourglass Project. Newly named CEO Melissa James will explain the group’s mission and vision. \n\nA BLUE LINE AGAINST HATE \nWelcoming diversity\, promoting acceptance and fostering understanding — probably not your first thought about what police officers do. But it’s the mission of a SLO Police partnership being recognized by the Anti- Defamation League. Chief Deanna Cantrell will discuss the approach and the strides it has made. \n\nTHE LITTLE AIRPORT THAT COULD \nRegional airports around the country are suffering — but not SLO. The SLO County Regional Airport is now one of the fastest growing airports in the nation\, a gleaming new facility welcoming flights from several new destinations. Airport Director Kevin Bumen will dig into the shift from sleepy to buzzing. \n\n \nTHE NEWS THAT’S FIT TO PRINT \nSo how does a story end up in the paper? (Or\, increasingly\, on the website?) Local news coverage continues to evolve\, and SLO Tribune reporter Monica Vaughan will share what that means for the business community. She’ll provide insight on what journalists are looking for and advice on getting your word out. \n\nWINTER SHOWERS BRING EARLY FLOWERS \nWe’ve been hearing all this wet weather means we might be in for another floral explosion on the Central Coast. So we asked David Chipping\, president of the Friends of the Carrizo Plain\, to give us the scoop on superbloom (fingers crossed!)— and how to be protect the the precious landscape. \n\nBLOWING SMOKE | THE 411 ON VAPING \nVaping and e-cigarettes may initially have been seen as a safe way to quit smoking. But they’ve evolved into much more\, with widespread use among teenagers. SLO County Health Agency’s Inger Appanaitis will share what you need to know about vaping and perspective from the stop-smoking campaign. \n\nVOICES OF HOPE & RESILIENCE \nThe Canzona Women’s Ensemble is marking a decade of celebrating women’s voices. The choral group’s 10th anniversary season continues by raising those voices in songs of hope and resilience March 3. As a preview\, ensemble members\, accompanied by Keeth CrowHawk on percussion\, will perform a South African folk song.
