Dr. Borenstein is currently leading the county’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

While at NYU\, he spent three years at the Atlantic Theatre Company studying acting under David Mamet\, William H. Macy\, and Felicity Huffman; he also spent a year at Musical Theatre Works (CAP 21) learning the finer intricacies of “jazz hands”. Favorite roles at the Atlantic include The Russian (Chess)\, Alan Strang (Equus)\, Jamie (The Last Five Years)\, Orsino (12th Night)\, and Rev. Hale (The Crucible). For several years\, Kevin worked as a freelance director in L.O.R.T./Equity theatres across the nation. Favorite shows: The Merry Wives of Windsor\, The Comedy of Errors\, The Exhibitionists\, Militant Language\, Woyzeck\, Ghost Sonata\, The Cherry Orchard\, Man of la Mancha\, and several original plays which have gone on to be produced at the New York Theatre Workshop\, The Public Theatre\, The O’Neill\, Cherry Lane\, and many others. From 1999-2002 he was the Artistic Director of Centerpoint Theatre Group in San Luis Obispo\, CA. In 2005\, he traveled to the West Bank and Gaza Strip to co-write and direct an original play with Ashtar Theatre\, Palestine’s only professional theatre company. The subsequent play\, The Era of Whales\, has been performed in Gaza\, Ramallah\, Nablus\, Jerusalem\, and several international theatre festivals. Kevin has taught at the University of Iowa\, University of Chicago\, and has led dozens of workshops on A Practical Handbook for the Actor across the country. He is very happy to be here on the Central Coast with his two beautiful children\, Dominick and Ella.

Additionally\, we will be joined by Dr. J. Trees Ritter to speak about the key health measurements SLO County will need to hit in order to reopen. Don’t miss this important and informative conversation that will help shed some light on the weeks and months ahead.\n\n\n\n\nSpeakers \n\n\nSupervisor Lynn Compton represents District 4 on the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors and is the voice for the residents of San Luis Obispo\, Arroyo Grande\, Oceano\, and Nipomo. Prior to her political career\, Supervisor Compton worked in the agricultural\, pharmaceutical\, and veterinary industries. Compton is currently Chair of the Board and has served since 2014.\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\nDr. J. Trees Ritter specializes in infectious disease and internal medicine. He studied at the Western University of Health Sciences and currently practices with Dignity Health Central Coast. Dr. Ritter specializes in infectious diseases that are difficult to diagnose and treat\, and has brought his expertise to the SLO County COVID medical taskforce.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA retired U.S Air Force Lieutenant Colonel\, Andrew Hackleman has extensive experience executing mission-critical initiatives. He led efforts to increase the region’s housing supply as Executive Director of the Home Builders Association of the Central Coast from 2017-2019. He served as a logistics and supply chain leader for the USAF\, successfully leading strategy\, analysis\, project\, policy and operational production teams through appointments at several bases and the Pentagon. He holds two master’s degrees\, one in aviation/airway management and operations from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University\, and one in logistics\, materials and supply chain management from the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology. He is a native of Atascadero.

He has held positions in local\, state and federal levels of government. He grew up working on his family’s grain and tobacco farm near the western Kentucky town of Murray. In 2018\, Burchett was appointed by United States Department of Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue to the USDA Plant Variety Protection Board. Since 2016\, Burchett has served at the Kentucky Department of Agriculture as Director of Plant Marketing\, where he oversaw organic certification\, forage testing\, produce safety\, ginseng\, specialty crops\, and Kentucky’s nationally-renown industrial hemp program.
