SUMMARY:7:30 AM | Hybrid Good Morning SLO - November 2021
DESCRIPTION:Grab breakfast and coffee and join us for this month’s Good Morning SLO program. To preserve some community connection in this time of being apart\, you’ll have the chance to interact with speakers by asking your most pressing questions. Zoom invite will be sent upon registration. \nThank you to this month’s featured sponsor: \n \n\nFREE SPEECH? WITH LIMITS\n \nWhile the First Amendment protects individuals’ right to protest\, some people are saying that recent gatherings outside elected officials’ houses have gone too far — and two large cities in California seem to agree. San Luis Obispo City attorney\, Christine Dietrick\, will join us to talk about where these new laws are drawing the line. \n\nBIKING BREAD \nIt was in college that Sam DeNicola discovered his love for creating community around food. After quitting his job and traveling around the world\, he decided making food and meeting people was what he wanted to do. DeNicola will share his journey of baking and biking bread all over San Luis Obispo\, and how Bread Bike continues to create connection. \n\nTHE SECRET LIFE OF SNAKES \nConceived in 2020 to learn more about secrets of rattlesnake social behavior\, the Rattle Cam Project empowers community scientists from around the world to be part of analyzing behavior at rattlesnake dens. Project co-lead and Cal Poly professor Emily Taylor\, will share highlights of the research so far and discuss the power of community science. \n\nTHE STAFFING SHORTAGE \nLately\, it seems businesses across all industry sectors are struggling fill open positions. COVID has changed the workplace landscape for both employers and employees. Lorna Hewitt of Eckerd Connects Workforce Development will offer insight into their experience on the front lines connecting workers and jobs. \n\nOSHA’S VACCINE MANDATE \nThe Occupational Safety and Health Administration released its highly anticipated vaccine or test rules in early November requiring businesses with 100+ employees to ensure their employees get vaccinated against COVID-19 or wear a mask and test on at least a weekly basis. Susan Waag will share the details that you need to know in a five minute preview of our December Insight Studio Labor law workshop. \n\n \nHEALING THROUGH HORTICULTURE \nFor nearly 40 years\, Growing Grounds has provided employment and horticulture therapy to nearly 1\,500 people. Transitions-Mental Health Association’s Frank Ricceri will share how plant therapy combined with socializations skills and employment opportunities have offered healing to those struggling with mental illness — especially through the pandemic. \n\n \nMELODY’S MELODIES \nThe Chamber’s familiar\, resident singer-songwriter Melody Klemin will close out GMSLO for 2021 with an exciting announcement\, a year-end thought to reflect on and\, of course\, some musical joy. \n  \n\nThank you to our 2021 Good Morning SLO Annual Sponsors:
