SUMMARY:Insight Studio | Experience Sustainability In Practice
DESCRIPTION:Our first Insight Studio of 2022 will dive into the importance and reality of utilizing sustainable practices in business.\n\n\n\nWe will start with a behind the scenes tour of the Kompogas SLO anaerobic digester\, the first of its kind in the United States. Central to local efforts to reduce carbon emissions\, the system recycles local organic waste and converts it into renewable electricity. Sales manager\, Thomas Gratz\, will take us through how each station at the facility plays a role in helping SLO County reach the state mandated goal of diverting 75% of our organic solid waste.\n\n\n\n\nFollowing the tour\, we’ll head over to Tolosa for a glass of wine and discussion with CEO\, June McIvor\, about how they have reasserted their commitment to sustainable practices in recent years.\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin us April 5 for this hands-on learning opportunity and bring sustainability back into focus for you and your business. Space is limited\, so register early to secure your spot.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSCHEDULE\n\n3:00-4:30 | Tour at Kompogas SLO\n4:30-4:45 | Travel to Tolosa\n4:45-5:30 | Tolosa discussion and wine\n\n\n\n\nSPEAKERS\nThomas Gratz is the Sales Manager for Hitachi Zosen Inova USA\, responsible for all sales activities of HZI KOMPOGAS and SCHMACK anaerobic digestion systems as well as BIOMETHAN biogas upgrading technologies. Gratz has been involved with organic waste diversion and sustainability for more than 12 years. His experience includes all aspects of sales and sales management for capital equipment and specialty technology products. He successfully managed the start-up of several European Sales Organizations in the US and has a proven track record of implementing advanced new technologies in the US.\n\n\n\n\n\nJune McIvor has led the team at Tolosa Winery since 2015\, first as General Manager and now as President & CEO. In that time\, she has overseen the comprehensive refresh and elevation of Tolosa\, including an across-the-board overhaul of Tolosa’s approach to direct-to-consumer sales. McIvor holds a law degree from University of Virginia School of Law and was previously a partner at what is now McCormick & Barstow. Tolosa Winery is Sustainability in Practice Certified and has implemented water conservation programs\, renewable solar energy that offsets 75% of onsite energy use and sustainable farming practices.\n\n\n\n\nThank you to our lead sponsors:\n

SUMMARY:Membership Mixer | Trihydro
DESCRIPTION:Every month SLO Chamber members gather after hours to catch up\, meet new members\, do a bit of networking and get an inside glance at a local business. \nMembership Mixers happen on the third Wednesday of every month and provide an opportunity for members to get to know each other and share business contacts all in the friendly confines of a member business. \nA benefit to all Chamber members\, these networking events provide the opportunity for the host to showcase their digs\, show off what they do and maybe even boast a little about the services they offer. \nAll members are welcome to invite a non-member as a one-time guest. The guest will be contacted at a later date about the benefits of a membership. \nPlease see Mixer Guidelines for potential hosts.

SUMMARY:7:30 AM | Good Morning SLO - April 2022
DESCRIPTION:Your community newspaper brought to life. \nGood Morning SLO is our platform for sharing ideas\, news and inspiration. A monthly program that brings community leaders\, business owners\, nonprofit executives and staffers together\, and enables us to reconnect\, engage and learn from each other. \nOur goal is to provide insight into business\, community and legislative issues and share the stories of those making a difference. We want audience members to leave with ideas and information about how to better their personal and professional lives. \nGood Morning SLO happens on the fourth Thursday of every month except November when it is on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. \nThank you to this month’s featured sponsor: \n \n\nSUPPORTING SURVIVORS \nApril is Sexual Assault Action Month\, and there has never been a more timely moment to take action and support local survivors. Jennifer Adams\, Lumina Alliance CEO\, will shed light on how to empower survivors in their healing\, process sexual violence on a community level\, and take steps this month and every month to create a future without violence. \n\nEMERGENCY PLANNING FOR HYBRID WORKPLACES \nWhile adapting to COVID-19 continues to be top of mind\, many business emergency plans don’t reflect their new workplace realities. Robert Lewin of Resolute Associates will walk us through key considerations to ensure that your business and employees – whether in-person or remote – are prepared for natural disasters and other emergencies. \n\nIF YOU SEE SOMETHING\, SAY SOMETHING \nWith mass shootings and workplace violence once again making headlines\, we wanted to better understand what warning signs to be aware of and actions we all can take to prevent a mass shooting event. Dr. Joseph Holifield will share how to recognize potential threats and give a preview of the larger Insight Studio event on community violence prevention May 2 and 3. \n\nEVERY KEY HELPS PLANT A TREE \nAs part of the City of SLO’s goal to be carbon neutral by 2035\, San Luis Obispo hotels are allocating 1% of their annual revenue to plant trees through EcoSLO’s tree planting program. Executive Director for the nonprofit\, Mary Ciesinski\, will join us to share the importance of urban reforestation and more about this novel partnership. \n\nSOARING HIGH IN SAN LUIS \nACI Jet first opened its doors in SLO more than 20 years ago. Since those early beginnings\, they’ve grown into an aviation powerhouse throughout California. With a recently opened state of the art facility bringing head of household jobs to the Central Coast\, we asked COO\, George Dom\, to share where they aiming to land next. \n\nTHAT’S SO DEEP \nThere is an epidemic spreading across the United States and it’s not what you think it is. It’s a loneliness epidemic. Phyllis Wong created a podcast to explore how deeper conversations\, authentic relationships and meaningful connection can be the antidotes to loneliness. She’ll join us to share what she’s learned. \n\nENDING ON A HIGH NOTE \nOpera San Luis Obispo will close out the program with a sneak peak of their forthcoming performance Carousel!\, the classic Broadway hit premiering Mother’s Day weekend at the Performing Arts Center. \n\nThank you to Costco and Coastal Peaks Coffee for providing breakfast at this month’s program. \n \n\nThank you to our 2022 Good Morning SLO Annual Sponsors:
