SUMMARY:2023 EXPO at the Expo
DESCRIPTION:Meet more potential clients in three hours than most will see in three months. With 2\,000 locals perusing the offerings\, you may want to break out the big guns\, like those new matching company shirts. \n\n\nCheck out photos from the 2022 EXPO at the Expo \n\n\nThe annual EXPO at the Expo brings together more than 100 local exhibitors and puts them in front of 2\,000 attendees in what has become the largest business tradeshow on the Central Coast. \nNot only is this an opportunity to gain exposure to the general public\, but also to connect with other local businesses\, find services that you may need and inform others how you can support their business. To make this easier and more fun\, EXPO always has a theme that exhibitors use to guide their booth design and team costumes. The theme this year is Magic\, and you are encouraged to incorporate magical elements into your booth space\, though there is no obligation to do so. \nHere are some guidelines\, tips and tricks for this year’s magical theme: \n\nHave fun with it! Work phrases like “Abracadabra” and “Alacazam” into your magic marketing spiels.\nConsider a relevant “trick” specific to your business or organization. Can the coupon code you’re handing out make retail prices disappear?\nSwag that fits into the theme is always welcome. Think: branded playing cards\, magic wands\, etc.\n\nAs you envision and materialize your plan\, please be respectful and considerate when choosing how to incorporate the theme of magic into your booth. Avoid any offensive\, culturally insensitive attire\, cultural appropriations\, or displays. Remember\, if it is not clear what the intent and impact of your plan is\, it will most likely be misrepresented. Magic is fun and we want to make sure everyone can feel welcome and comfortable. \nLearn more about booth options and earlybird pricing. \nExhibiting at EXPO is a members-only benefit. For more information about member benefits and how to join the Chamber go here. \nRegister for 2023’s EXPO here. \nInterested? Have some questions? SUMMARY:7:30 AM | Good Morning SLO - May 2023
DESCRIPTION:Your community newspaper brought to life. \nGood Morning SLO is our platform for sharing ideas\, news and inspiration. A monthly program that brings community leaders\, business owners\, nonprofit executives and staffers together\, and enables us to reconnect\, engage and learn from each other. \nOur goal is to provide insight into business\, community and legislative issues and share the stories of those making a difference. We want audience members to leave with ideas and information about how to better their personal and professional lives. \nGood Morning SLO happens on the fourth Thursday of every month except November when it is on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. \n\nROTARY’S VISION \nThe ability to see with 20/20 vision (whether naturally or through lenses) is easy to take for granted. That’s not the case throughout the world\, where residents can go their whole life without vision care. Supervisor Dawn Ortiz-Legg will share about her family connection to the cause and how Rotary is traveling to bring optometry care to help more folks see clearly. \n  \n\nA PIECE OF WWII HISTORY\, HERE \nThe Central Coast Veterans Memorial Museum has been a SLO community staple for more than two decades. They recently unveiled a redesigned World War II exhibit with the impactful addition of a piece of the historic USS Arizona. Bart Topham will share more about the importance of this artifact\, how they came to have it and what’s new at the museum. \n  \n\nCOUNTY-WIDE PUBLIC ART \nMurals are how communities uplift art\, express values and beautify streets. SLO County has a lot of them\, each unique to its location. We’ve invited Alyssa Manno to join us and talk about Visit SLO CAL’s mural trail. This brand new\, self guided tour of public art throughout the county is live and ready to tell the story of our community to visitors and locals alike. \n\nFUELING EXCELLENCE \nThe Dewar family’s unflinching commitment to community is exemplary of SLO County values. With more than 90 years fueling the local economy\, they remain most proud of their support of community programs like 4-H\, FFA\, tractor restoration and more. Morgan Dewar will join us to share their history and help us celebrate this incredible anniversary. \n\nESTABLISHING HOME \nSLO 4 Home is working tirelessly to assist refugees from Syria and Afghanistan relocate to the Central Coast\, create community and thrive. In anticipation of Immigrant Heritage Month\, we’ve invited them to share stories of recent success\, the trials of transition and what’s coming next. \n\nCHIEF TODD TUGGLE’S TAKE \nThe City of San Luis Obispo’s Mobile Crisis Unit has been assisting with mental health and behavioral crisis intervention for nearly a year now. We’ve invited Todd Tuggle\, Fire Chief for the City of SLO\, to introduce himself\, talk about his first few months on the job and fill us in on the pilot program’s initial results. \n\nHAKEEM SANUSI \nWe’ve invited Hakeem Sanusi\, founder and vocalist of Silk Ocean and winner of a New Times Music Award\, to serenade us with pieces inspired from modern hip hop\, rock and classic funk\, seamlessly blending the old and new to facilitate a fresh listening experience. \n\nThank you to this month’s featured sponsor: \n \n\nThank you to our 2023 Good Morning SLO Annual Sponsors:\n        \n  \n     \n             \n     \n
