SUMMARY:February Membership Mixer | The Fremont Theater
DESCRIPTION:Every month SLO Chamber members gather after hours to catch up\, meet new members\, do a bit of networking and get an inside glance at a local business. \nMembership Mixers happen on the third Wednesday of every month and provide an opportunity for members to get to know each other and share business contacts all in the friendly confines of a member business. \nA benefit to all Chamber members\, these networking events provide the opportunity for the host to showcase their digs\, show off what they do and maybe even boast a little about the services they offer. \nAll members are welcome to invite a non-member as a one-time guest. The guest will be contacted at a later date about the benefits of a membership. \nPlease see Mixer Guidelines for potential hosts.

SUMMARY:February Good Morning SLO
DESCRIPTION:Your community newspaper brought to life. \nGood Morning SLO is our platform for sharing ideas\, news and inspiration. A monthly program that brings community leaders\, business owners\, nonprofit executives and staffers together\, and enables us to reconnect\, engage and learn from each other. \nOur goal is to provide insight into business\, community and legislative issues and share the stories of those making a difference. We want audience members to leave with ideas and information about how to better their personal and professional lives. \nGood Morning SLO happens on the fourth Thursday of every month except November when it is on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. \n\nBIPOC BOARD REPRESENTATION \nPrioritizing voices of color is crucial at all levels of nonprofit organization\, but especially so on Boards of Directors. We’ve invited Rita Casaverde\, Executive Director for the Diversity Coalition of San Luis Obispo County\, to share more about their BIPOC Board Leadership Training and the work they’re doing to give more people a seat at the table. \n\nA SEAT AT HER TABLE \nAt Her Table\, a countywide celebration of women in the culinary industry for Women’s History Month\, is about to enter its biggest year yet. We’ve invited Michelle Barrera\, At Her Table founder\, to share more about the upcoming festival\, what to expect and her pivotal role in supporting and celebrating women in the hospitality industry. \n\nREDUCE\, REUSE\, RETAIL \nJosh & Lindsey Haring\, owners of The Mountain Air\, recently opened The Switchback\, a brand new store with no new gear – which is the point. It’s is a space for customers to buy and sell gently used outdoor gear\, from climbing equipment to snow clothes. Josh Haring will be joining us to talk about this idea and the implementation of this sustainable retail business. \n\nCENTRAL COAST LEADING \nSLO County Supervisor Bruce Gibson has recently taken over as the President of the California State Association of Counties\, a body serving as the main voice representing counties across the state to Sacramento\, administrative agencies and the federal government. Supervisor Gibson will share about the important issues they will look to tackle in 2024. \n\nYOU COULD SAVE A LIFE \nLife-threatening bleeding injuries are incredibly common\, and one of the most important things you might need to save a life in modern times is knowing how to stop a bleeding event. We’ve asked DeAnna Porter to join us from Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center and share more about their “Stop the Bleed” community training program. \n\nA NEW\, FAMILIAR FACE \nThe news is official\, and Downtown SLO’s new CEO has been in the role for a month. We’ve invited LeBren Harris\, Downtown SLO CEO and former SLO Chamber Board Chair\, to share more about the journey that led her to this position\, future plans for the organization and everything happening in Downtown San Luis Obispo. \n\nBEEHIVE – THE 60S MUSICAL \nBEEHIVE-THE 60’S MUSICAL is now playing at SLO REP\, and they’re going to give us a preview of the excitement. This groovy\, rockin’ celebration of the powerful female voices of the 1960’s will close out the morning with one of the stars of the show\, Meami Maszewski. \n\nThank you to this month’s featured sponsor: \n \n\n A Note on Virtual Attendance \nWe know that having a virtual attendance option for Good Morning SLO is a priority for many of you. Unfortunately\, Grace Central Coast is no longer offering video streaming services as part of their event options\, which is what allowed us to offer Good Morning SLO virtually for attendees unable to make it in person.  \nWe are currently unable to offer a virtual event for Good Morning SLO moving forward. We apologize for this change and want to assure you that we understand the value in offering virtual options for in person events for a variety of reasons\, especially when it comes to accessibility for immunocompromised people and working parents. If you have any questions about this change\, please reach out to hollie@slochamber.org. We appreciate your understanding. \n\n  \nThank you to all the Good Morning SLO Annual Sponsors for 2024: \n            \n  \n      \n  \n         \n  \n     \n  \n     \n
