SUMMARY:March Membership Mixer | Bank of the Sierra
DESCRIPTION:Every month SLO Chamber members gather after hours to catch up\, meet new members\, do a bit of networking and get an inside glance at a local business. \nMembership Mixers happen on the third Wednesday of every month and provide an opportunity for members to get to know each other and share business contacts all in the friendly confines of a member business. \nA benefit to all Chamber members\, these networking events provide the opportunity for the host to showcase their digs\, show off what they do and maybe even boast a little about the services they offer. \nAll members are welcome to invite a non-member as a one-time guest. The guest will be contacted at a later date about the benefits of a membership. \nPlease see Mixer Guidelines for potential hosts.

SUMMARY:March Good Morning SLO at the Ludwick Community Center
DESCRIPTION:Please note that March’s Good Morning SLO\, taking place on Thursday\, March 28\, 2024\, will be at the Ludwick Community Center at 864 Santa Rosa Street. This will be a one-time venue change. \nYour community newspaper brought to life. \nGood Morning SLO is our platform for sharing ideas\, news and inspiration. A monthly program that brings community leaders\, business owners\, nonprofit executives and staffers together\, and enables us to reconnect\, engage and learn from each other. \nOur goal is to provide insight into business\, community and legislative issues and share the stories of those making a difference. We want audience members to leave with ideas and information about how to better their personal and professional lives. \nGood Morning SLO happens on the fourth Thursday of every month except November when it is on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. \nThank you to our March Good Morning SLO sponsor: \n \n\nBOOSTING YOUR BUSINESS \nOne of the simplest and most important things any business can do to increase sales and receive better reviews is to update and enhance your Google Business Profile. Brenna Humphreys\, co-founder of Walkthrough Productions\, will share some tips she’s learned from helping businesses spruce up their Google Business Profile. \n\nENERGY IN THE WIND \nThe Federal Government entered into leases off the Central Coast with the hope that floating wind turbines will potentially be able to generate more than 5GW of power in the future. But what is the timeline and the next steps? We’ve asked Erica Crawford\, of Golden State Wind\, to join us and share an overview of what we can expect. \n\n30 YEARS OF FILM \nAs the SLO International Film Festival approaches its 30th year in action\, we often forget about the work they’re doing year round to make SLO special. We’ve invited Skye McLennan\, the festival’s Executive Director\, to share more about the upcoming anniversary\, the recently announced lineup and highlight the transformative power of film. \n\nSOLVING THE CLIMATE CRISIS \nWhile the climate outlook can feel overwhelming\, important work is being done to protect our planet. Susan Callery recently retired from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab\, where she was the Managing Editor of NASA’s Global Climate Change Website. She will join us to share more about her previous role and climate insights from NASA. \n\nSLO’S SUFFRAGETTE HISTORY\nSan Luis Obispo had a part to play in the suffragette movement\, so this Women’s History Month we’ve invited Janice Carr to join us on behalf of the League of Women Voters. She’ll share the local history that should be remembered in the important struggle that gave many women the right to vote in the United States. \n\nNOT YOUR PARENTS’ LIBRARY \nHave you been to the library lately? It’s not just borrowing books or magazines anymore. The library now has technology\, tools and many other items and resources for community members to use or borrow. Erica Thatcher and Susana Lewis will join us from SLO County Libraries to bring you the latest news from our library system. \n\nMELODY KLEMIN \nWe’ll round out the morning with a mashup of songs from a Good Morning SLO crowd favorite\, Melody Klemin. \n\nThank you to our 2024 Annual Sponsors:\n \n \n     \n
