We’ll learn about the nuclear facility\, the onsite desalination plant and enjoy a boat tour* of the plant’s surrounding ocean waters. \nThis event will begin at the PG&E Energy Education Center at 8:00 a.m. with an orientation at 8:30. He recently announced that he will be stepping down to pursue new challenges outside of SLO\, so we asked him to join us onstage to discuss the transition and recap the great work GALA has done under his leadership. \n\nTOURISM IN SLO CAL \nVisit SLO CAL is doing big work at national and international levels to continue to make our county a destination for travelers worldwide. We’ve invited Cathy Cartier\, SLO CAL’s Interim President & CEO\, to the Good Morning SLO stage to share more about the state of local tourism heading into the summer season. \n\nDIGGING UP LOCAL HISTORY \nThe “Pecho Coast”\, or the land held today by the Diablo Canyon Power Plant\, was home to a Japanese-American farmstead from 1928 to 1942. Over Memorial Day Weekend\, an excavation took place and more than 40 descendants of the couple who lived at the site were present. Terry Jones\, Cal Poly Professor of Anthropology\, will join us to share more about this impactful project. \n\nFESTIVAL MOZAIC \nFestival Mozaic returns to San Luis Obispo this summer and will feature more than 50 world-class artists performing 22 events in 10 days.
