SUMMARY:October Membership Mixer | Coastal Peaks Coffee
DESCRIPTION:Every month SLO Chamber members gather after hours to catch up\, meet new members\, do a bit of networking and get an inside glance at a local business. \nMembership Mixers happen on the third Wednesday of every month and provide an opportunity for members to get to know each other and share business contacts all in the friendly confines of a member business. \nA benefit to all Chamber members\, these networking events provide the opportunity for the host to showcase their digs\, show off what they do and maybe even boast a little about the services they offer. \nAll members are welcome to invite a non-member as a one-time guest. The guest will be contacted at a later date about the benefits of a membership. \nPlease see Mixer Guidelines for potential hosts. \nProfessional Sound and Visual provided by Kramer Events!

SUMMARY:October Good Morning SLO
DESCRIPTION:Your community newspaper brought to life. \nGood Morning SLO is our platform for sharing ideas\, news and inspiration. A monthly program that brings community leaders\, business owners\, nonprofit executives and staffers together\, and enables us to reconnect\, engage and learn from each other. \nOur goal is to provide insight into business\, community and legislative issues and share the stories of those making a difference. We want audience members to leave with ideas and information about how to better their personal and professional lives. \nGood Morning SLO happens on the fourth Thursday of every month except November when it is on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. \nOCTOBER TOPICS INCLUDE: \nOUR AGRICULTURAL ECONOMY \nAgriculture has always been a staple of SLO County’s economy\, and our Ag Commissioner recently released the annual crop report outlining the county’s production last year. Paul Clark\, Executive Director of SLO County Farm Bureau\, will join us to discuss the findings\, opportunities and challenges that our agricultural community faces. \n\nLET’S FEED SLO COUNTY TOGETHER \nDespite our local agricultural abundance\, hunger remains a significant and growing issue in SLO County\, with a record-breaking 39\,000 residents relying on the SLO Food Bank each month. Board Chair Ryan Caldwell will unpack the daily realities of food insecurity locally and share ways we can work together to ensure no one goes to bed hungry. \n\nWELCOMING WHITNEY \nThe City of San Luis Obispo welcomed their new City Manager\, Whitney McDonald\, in July of this year. Now that she’s had a few months to settle into this new role\, we’ve asked her to come to Good Morning SLO and share her thoughts on the new position\, how things have been going and what she envisions in the coming years for the city. \n\nCHANGES TO REAL ESTATE COMMISSIONS \nIn 2023\, a legal decision led to a modification in the way real estate agents are compensated in California. The changes have caused misunderstandings about how and when to compensate your agent. We’ve asked Joe Prian\, President of the Board for the SLO Coastal Association of Realtors\, to come onstage to share more about these changes. \n\nEMPOWERING SPANISH-SPEAKING VOTERS \nTo make voting more accessible to Spanish-speaking residents\, three Cal Poly students partnered with the County-Clerk Recorder’s office to host six LatinX Empowerment workshops throughout our County. Students Alondra Cardoso and Darius Rogness will be at Good Morning SLO to share more about this impressive effort and the workshops’ results. \n\nCAL POLY MARCHING BAND \nWe’ll close out the morning with a high-energy performance from the 210-member strong Pride of the Pacific Mustang Marching Band\, an organization of Cal Poly students who perform at all home football\, volleyball matches and all men’s and women’s home basketball games. The Mustang Band also performs at special functions throughout the year. \n\nThank you to this month’s featured sponsor: \n \n  \nThank you to all the Good Morning SLO Annual Sponsors for 2024: \n  \n              \n  \n        \n  \n  \n           \n  \n       \n  \nThank you to our generous vendors:
