DESCRIPTION:Missed this event or want to watch it again? Purchase a recording of the program HERE\n\nYou let us know what you missed most\, and we’re making changes to get as close as we can to being there in person. This month’s program will be in “meeting” format so you can see other attendees and connect through chat. \nVirtual doors will open at 7:30 a.m. with music and 15 minutes of social time.\nOnce the program concludes\, we’ll open it up for additional networking. \nZoom invite will be sent upon registration. \n\nClick HERE to view this month’s Good Morning SLO Digital Flyers\n\nThis month’s featured sponsors:\n \n\nThis month’s speakers include:\nNEW MOMENTUM IN LONG MARCH TOWARD EQUITY\nCalls for racial equity and justice have reverberated across the country and throughout SLO County following George Floyd’s death nearly a month ago\, marking a new era in the struggle against racism and police brutality. Cheryl Vines\, secretary of SLO County’s NAACP branch\, will provide a long view of recent events and hopes for this new momentum. \n\nTHE DETECTIVE WORK OF LIMITING VIRAL SPREAD\nAs SLO County sees an uptick in coronavirus infections\, contact tracing moves to the fore of efforts to prevent a widespread outbreak. We wanted to know more about how it works\, so we asked SLO County Public Health epidemiologist Ann McDowell to dive into the details of tracing the path of a virus. \n \n\n \nTHE NEW COVID CALCULUS OF DECIDING WHAT’S SAFE\nThings continue to open up\, but the virus is still out there. How do you decide what’s safe? The New York Times surveyed 500 epidemiologists on what they think\, and among them was Cal Poly’s Dr. Marilyn Tseng. We asked her to share her approach to the mental calculations of deciding when to resume various activities.\n \n\nCRAFTING A SOCIAL EXPERIENCE IN THE VIRTUAL WORLD\nCal Poly’s campus may be closed\, but computer science students and faculty devised a way to be there for graduation: They built a virtual campus in the computer game Minecraft. It’s a prime example of the creativity people are using to replicate real-world experiences virtually\, and Dr. Zöe Wood will tell us how it came about. \n\nEVERY SILVER LINING HAS A CLOUD\nOne silver lining of the pandemic: reduced pollution and greenhouse gas emissions worldwide as more people stay at home. But it’s not all good news for Mother Earth\, with backward progress on single-use items like plastic bags and take-out containers. EcoSlo Executive Director Mary Ciesinski surveys the plastic-strewn landscape. \n\nSCHOOL LUNCH WITHOUT THE SCHOOL\nFeeding thousands of children is no easy task under normal circumstances. Feeding them during a pandemic when school’s not even in session takes a whole new level of effort and ingenuity. San Luis Coastal Food Services Director Erin Primer will share how the district mobilized to provide 50\,000 meals a week for the families who need it most. \n\nGOOD MORNING SLO BREAKFAST SPECIALS FROM OUR MEMBERS \nSLO Provisions\nCoffee and a croissant\n$4.50\n7 to 10 a.m.\n1255 Monterey St.\, SLO\nOrder ahead at (805) 439-4298 or online \nCoastal Peaks Roasters\nYour choice of pastry and\n12oz hot or 16oz cold beverage\n$5\n7 to 10 a.m.\n3566 S.
