SUMMARY:7:30 AM | Good Morning SLO - June 2022
DESCRIPTION:Your community newspaper brought to life. \nGood Morning SLO is our platform for sharing ideas\, news and inspiration. A monthly program that brings community leaders\, business owners\, nonprofit executives and staffers together\, and enables us to reconnect\, engage and learn from each other. \nOur goal is to provide insight into business\, community and legislative issues and share the stories of those making a difference. We want audience members to leave with ideas and information about how to better their personal and professional lives. \nGood Morning SLO happens on the fourth Thursday of every month except November when it is on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. \nThank you to this month’s featured sponsor: \n \n\nDROUGHT TOLERANT \nThe state is in its third year of harsh drought\, and the Central Coast is particularly vulnerable. We’ve invited SLO City Utilities Director\, Aaron Floyd\, to address the community’s most frequently asked water questions and break down how the City of San Luis Obispo has prepared for the continuing drought. \n\nKEEPING WILDLIFE WILD \nCute kitten videos have nothing on Pacific Wildlife Care’s social media rehabilitation and release footage. From pelicans and hawks to songbirds and jackrabbits\, the organization is experiencing a record setting spring. We invited inaugural Executive Director\, Christine Johnson\, to elaborate on what is causing this increase and introduce us to an animal ambassador or two. \n\nFARM TO WALLET \nThis year’s AngelCon winner is an example of how Ag Tech is helping the farm industry innovate and improve operations. Jim Cogan\, co-founder and COO\, will join us to share how farm-management platform AcreCloud is offering growers and contractors customized control over their work\, reducing cost\, and helping ensure compliance in an ever-growing field. \n\nA FAMILY-FRIENDLY STATE OF MIND \nRecent studies have continued to show that what’s good for families is good for business. One local company has long been bought into that philosophy\, and has put practices into place that not only keep their employees happy\, but help their bottom line. Morris & Garritano COO Kerry Morris will share how implementing family-friendly policies has improved workplace culture and the company’s success overall. \n\nSUMMER TOURISM TRENDS \nSummertime is here in SLO County and with domestic travel on the rise\, we’re set to have a record-breaking tourism season. Eric Parker\, Public Relations and Communications Manager at Visit SLO CAL will offer insight on statewide travel trends\, where they’re focusing their efforts\, and what we should expect across the Central Coast this summer. \n\nGOOD SAMARITANS OF SLO COUNTY \nTo help combat the rise of opioid overdoses in our county\, the SLO Opioid Safety Coalition and students at Cal Poly’s Digital Transformation Hub teamed up to create Naxalone Now\, an app that delivers the life-saving drug Naxalone directly to people’s doorsteps. Jenn Rhoads\, SLO County Behavioral Health Specialist\, will share an update on how the app is working since launching earlier this year. \n\nMORNING MASH UP \nBrass Mash will give us a sneak peek of their next day’s performance at Concerts in the Plaza. Known to bring any crowd to its feet\, the Brass Mash style blends or “mashes” two or more songs at a time. The band consists entirely of horns\, winds\, and percussion\, and plays a variety of music styles\, making them everyone’s favorite party rock band. \n\nThank you to our 2022 Good Morning SLO Annual Sponsors:
