SUMMARY:7:30 AM | Good Morning SLO - February 2023
DESCRIPTION:Your community newspaper brought to life. \nGood Morning SLO is our platform for sharing ideas\, news and inspiration. A monthly program that brings community leaders\, business owners\, nonprofit executives and staffers together\, and enables us to reconnect\, engage and learn from each other. \nOur goal is to provide insight into business\, community and legislative issues and share the stories of those making a difference. We want audience members to leave with ideas and information about how to better their personal and professional lives. \nGood Morning SLO happens on the fourth Thursday of every month except November when it is on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. \n\nYOU CAN’T WIN IF YOU DON’T PLAY \nHave you ever heard about an extremely exciting sweepstakes\, but talked yourself out of participating because of a “why bother\, I never win anything anyway” mindset? You could be missing out! We’ve invited the sweepstakes savvy Hans Poshman to share how he has mastered the art of the sweepstakes and has been winning ever since. \n\nTHEY’VE GOAT WHAT YOU NEED \nA herd of grazing goats might not look like much\, but the Goat Girl’s herd spend their days hard at work on flood management\, firebreak development and wildlife habitat enhancement. Beth Reynolds will join us to share how they do what they do and the healthy impacts of targeted grazing in our community. \n\nLEADING WITH DIGNITY \nAccess to state of the art healthcare is crucial to a successful and healthy community. Having just taken the reins as French Hospital Medical Center’s new President & CEO\, Patrick Caster will join us to share more about his passion for progressive healthcare\, hopes for building upon French’s significant achievements\, and plans for bold new initiatives. \n\nCOMBINING CULTURES \n\nMergers and acquisitions can be exciting and full of promise\, but they are also full of uncertainty with company culture and morale often the main casualties. We asked consultant Jennifer Porcher to offer advice on how in times of great change\, companies can maximize and retain their most valuable asset — people.\n\n\nSOMEWHERE OVER THE SLO(W) RAINBOW \n\n\nSLOMA’s getting a fresh\, new exterior mural\, with themes that highlight the importance of collaboration and community. Leah Rosenberg\, the mural’s creator and San Francisco-based artist\, will join us to share about the new piece and her passion for color’s psychological power to create opportunities for collective experience in everyday life.\n\n\n\n\nFLOODWAYS\, SPILLS & WATER SUSTAINABILITY \n\n\n\n\n\n\nDespite continued drought predictions\, 2023 has brought a surprising level of rainfall that\, at times\, has been extremely concentrated. Kate Ballantyne\, SLO County Deputy Director of Public Works\, will join us to share about recent storms impact on water supply in our reservoirs\, groundwater basins and sustainable water management. \n\nSCOTT YOO \n\n\nWe’ll end the morning on a high note with beautiful chamber music. Scott Yoo\, violinist and Festival Mozaic music director\, will perform ahead of his performance at the Harold J. Miossi Cultural & Performing Arts Center on February 26.\n\n\n\n\nThank you to this month’s featured sponsor: \n \n  \n\nThank you to our 2023 Good Morning SLO Annual Sponsors:\n        \n  \n     \n             \n         \n
