SUMMARY:7:30 AM | Good Morning SLO - March 2023
DESCRIPTION:Your community newspaper brought to life. \nGood Morning SLO is our platform for sharing ideas\, news and inspiration. A monthly program that brings community leaders\, business owners\, nonprofit executives and staffers together\, and enables us to reconnect\, engage and learn from each other. \nOur goal is to provide insight into business\, community and legislative issues and share the stories of those making a difference. We want audience members to leave with ideas and information about how to better their personal and professional lives. \nGood Morning SLO happens on the fourth Thursday of every month except November when it is on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. \n\nThank you to this month’s featured sponsor: \n \n\nPESTICIDE-FREE PEST CONTROL \nWith 320 million dollars in annual revenue\, strawberries lead the charge as SLO County’s top crop. The amount of pesticide and fertilizer needed to hit that target\, however\, remain a concern. TRIC Robotics founder Adam Stager aims to change that and will share about how he’s capitalizing on USDA research he was exposed to while in school on the East Coast. \n\nTHE LONG WINTER \nThis has been an eventful winter\, with cold temperatures and damaging storms. While power may have gone out\, natural gas has been reliable. That consistency came at a price in our natural gas bills. Tim Mahoney\, from the Southern California Gas Company\, will come to share why we saw that price change and how the weather impacted their infrastructure. \n\nFOUR THE PEOPLE \nFresh out of his seat on the Arroyo Grande City Council and a few months into his new role\, Jimmy Paulding is the newest addition to our County Board of Supervisors. He will join us to share about his major priorities for District Four\, how his time with the City prepared him to be a County leader and his hopes for the future. \n\nCREATIVITY\, CRITICAL THINKING & KINDERGARTEN \nWhen Central Coast schools ask industry leaders what they want in a future workforce\, the answer is always creative problem solving and people ready to overcome unforeseen challenges. Christine Robertson will bring us up to speed on how SLO Coastal Education Foundation is working alongside districts to empower students to succeed in tomorrow’s world. \n\n \nSOARING BREASTFEEDING RATES \nAll SLO County hospitals have earned Baby Friendly Designations\, and local breastfeeding rates are 15% above the state average. The Central Coast Breastfeeding Coalition’s Leslie Mehigan will join us to explain the designation\, rates\, trends and what they mean for our healthcare system. \n\nCOMMUNICATING THE AI WAY \nChat GPT has been all the rage the past few weeks. While the free AI writing program is impressive and helpful\, it can feel threatening. We’ve invited Dr. Jason Peters\, Cal Poly English professor\, to share more about how the tool can be used as an asset in many industries and why you don’t need to worry about it taking over your job. \n\nSLO MASTER CHORALE \nThe morning will end on a fun note with SLO Master Chorale! They will join us to serenade us ahead of their upcoming performance of The Theatrical Mendelssohn Elijah on April 23 at the SLO Performing Arts Center. \n\nThank you to our 2023 Good Morning SLO Annual Sponsors:\n        \n  \n     \n             \n     \n
