SUMMARY:January Good Morning SLO
DESCRIPTION:Your community newspaper brought to life. \nGood Morning SLO is our platform for sharing ideas\, news and inspiration. A monthly program that brings community leaders\, business owners\, nonprofit executives and staffers together\, and enables us to reconnect\, engage and learn from each other. \nOur goal is to provide insight into business\, community and legislative issues and share the stories of those making a difference. We want audience members to leave with ideas and information about how to better their personal and professional lives. \nGood Morning SLO happens on the fourth Thursday of every month except November when it is on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. \n\nNEW YEAR\, NEW BOARD CHAIR \nThe new year brings a new leader of the SLO Chamber Board of Directors. Fresh off his grand introduction at the 118th Annual Dinner\, Brad Brechwald will join us at Good Morning SLO to share his vision and policy priorities for the SLO Chamber in 2024. \n\nFLOWERS FOR ALL OCCASIONS \nThe floral industry totes a unique business model that has held strong for decades. We will welcome Lisa-Marie Dietz from Open Air Flowers to share more about the flower world and the consumer relationships built from an industry that follows a lifespan\, from highs like births and weddings to lows like messages of condolence. \n\nCHANGING EMPLOYMENT LAW \nSignificant changes have come to employment laws this year that will become challenging to navigate if you aren’t prepared. Andre\, Morris & Buttery’s Michaela Cotton will join us onstage to share highlights from our informative Insight Studio 2024 Employment Law Workshop to help you learn what has changed and how it impacts your business. \n\nLAND VERSUS SEA \nThe fight to save our coastline as we know it as it faces rising seas\, increasingly large storms and degradation from overuse is an uphill battle. We’ve invited Charlie Gray from Cannon Engineering Consultants to share about their success in repairing a Pismo Beach sea wall against the many odds of nature. \n\nBLOCK PARTY ON PALM STREET \nThe iconic Ah Louis Store is celebrating 150 years in 2024. To celebrate\, the building’s current occupants\, Karson Butler Events is putting on a Lunar New Year Palm Street Block Party. Amber Karson will join us onstage to share more about the history of SLO’s Chinatown and the event they’re planning. \n\nLION DANCING FOR LUNAR NEW YEAR \nWe will round out the morning with an exciting performance in the courtyard. The Cal Poly Lion Dance Team will join us to celebrate Lunar New Year and show off their traditional costumes and moves. \n\nThank you to this month’s featured sponsor: \n \n  \n\nWe know that having a virtual attendance option for Good Morning SLO is a priority for many of you. Unfortunately\, Grace Central Coast is no longer offering video streaming services as part of their event options\, which is what allowed us to offer Good Morning SLO virtually for attendees unable to make it in person. \nWe are currently unable to offer a virtual event for Good Morning SLO moving forward. We hold ourselves and our events to a high standard and want to ensure that if we can offer a virtual option in the future\, it will be the same quality that we have produced in the past in partnership with the Grace tech team. \nWe apologize for this change and want to assure you that we understand the value in offering virtual options for in person events for a variety of reasons\, especially when it comes to accessibility for immunocompromised people and working parents. If you have any questions about this change\, please reach out to hollie@slochamber.org. We appreciate your understanding. \n\nThank you to all the Good Morning SLO Annual Sponsors for 2024:
