SUMMARY:November Good Morning SLO
DESCRIPTION:Your community newspaper brought to life. \nGood Morning SLO is our platform for sharing ideas\, news and inspiration. A monthly program that brings community leaders\, business owners\, nonprofit executives and staffers together\, and enables us to reconnect\, engage and learn from each other. \nOur goal is to provide insight into business\, community and legislative issues and share the stories of those making a difference. We want audience members to leave with ideas and information about how to better their personal and professional lives. \nGood Morning SLO happens on the fourth Thursday of every month except November when it is on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. \n\nFEATURING: \nTRUST\, LEADERSHIP AND HIGH PERFORMANCE TEAMS \nOrganizational success is contingent on getting your team to perform at a level that meets or exceeds expectations. How do you do it? Captain George Dom\, retired naval aviator\, local leader\, and author of the recently released High Trust Leadership\, will join us to share his blueprint for success: developing leaders with character\, commitment\, competence\, connection and communication. \n\nNO PLACE LIKE HOME FOR THE HOLIDAY FAMILY DRAMA \nWarm holiday gatherings with extended family around the dinner table can soothe the soul\, but they can also cause chaos\, especially in today’s political climate. Expert mediator Sam Watkins will join us to set you up for a successful season as she shares practical strategies for maintaining calm and confidence without compromising your own well-being. \n\nPIVOT FOR THE PATH \nEarlier this year\, the plan for the Bob Jones Trail was dealt a significant challenge when the County was unable to gain approval for land acquisition along the corridor. Community member and Bob Jones Trail supporter Jesse Dundon will share an update on what comes next and how volunteers are fighting to maintain hope for the alternative plan. \n\nLOCAL ADMISSION\, PRESTIGIOUS DEGREE \nCal Poly continues to win recognition for its increasingly prestigious and diverse student body\, but what does this mean for Central Coast youth hoping to get their degree from the local institution? Terrance Harris\, Cal Poly’s Vice President for Strategic Enrollment\, will provide a detailed assessment of the paths for local students to Cal Poly and how they’re achieving greater success each year. \n\nWINE NOT? \nWine grapes were once again the largest crop produced in SLO County\, yet we keep hearing that the wine industry is in crisis. We’ve invited Kathleen Naughton\, Executive Director for the SLO Coast Wine Collective\, to share the reality of our region’s wine economy\, perceived versus real threats\, and the future of the wine industry on the Central Coast. \n\nPROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT \nEcoSLO’s mission is to organize our community to protect SLO County’s environment\, and the organization brought on a new Executive Director\, Kendra Paulding\, in June. We asked Kendra to join us onstage to introduce herself in this new role and talk about the programs that EcoSLO provides to ensure that nature and community continue to thrive in SLO County. \n\nNUTCRACKER \nFor over 40 years\, Lori Lee Silvaggio’s The Nutcracker has been performed live at the Cal Poly Performing Arts Center by the Civic Ballet of San Luis Obispo featuring OperaSLO Grand Orchestra. They’ll join us at Good Morning SLO for a sneak peak of their December 13-15 performances. \n\nThank you to this month’s featured sponsor: \n \n  \n  \n  \n  \nThank you to all the Good Morning SLO Annual Sponsors for 2024: \n  \n              \n  \n \n \n  \n  \n          \n  \n       \n  \n
