SUMMARY:January Good Morning SLO
DESCRIPTION:Register for January’s Good Morning SLO here.  \nYour community newspaper brought to life. \nGood Morning SLO is our platform for sharing ideas\, news and inspiration. A monthly program that brings community leaders\, business owners\, nonprofit executives and staffers together\, and enables us to reconnect\, engage and learn from each other. \nOur goal is to provide insight into business\, community and legislative issues and share the stories of those making a difference. We want audience members to leave with ideas and information about how to better their personal and professional lives. \nGood Morning SLO happens on the fourth Thursday of every month except November when it is on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. \nJANUARY SPEAKERS \nLOOKING AHEAD \nAs the SLO Chamber looks ahead to 2026\, Aaryn Abbott is at the helm of the organization as this year’s Board Chair. Aaryn will join us onstage to share about his goals for your Chamber this year\, upcoming things to be excited about and why we should be looking at the work we do with a lens of abundance. \n\nBIG THINGS COMING DOWN THE PIPELINE \nThere are a lot of exciting development projects coming in SLO. Mayor Erica Stewart and City Manager Whitney McDonald will join us onstage to share about everything we should expect that’s coming down the pipeline for SLO in 2026. \n\nLIVING WITH FIRE RISK \nMajor recent statewide changes to fire hazard severity zones have impacted the Central Coast and the way we view housing in proximity to wildfire risk. We’ve invited Denny O’Neil\, wildfire behavior and risk mitigation consultant\, to dispel some of the biggest myths surrounding the new fire hazard severity zones and share more about fire-safe housing in high-risk areas. \n\nEVOLVING THE WAY WE DO CUSTOMER SERVICE \nFinding employees that are naturally adept at customer service is getting harder every day\, but a team at Cal Poly is working with artificial intelligence and virtual reality to make training easier. Cal Poly students Hirsh Kedia and Hailey Tamara will join us onstage to share about the exciting project they’re working on that local businesses can tap into. \n\nA CULTURE OF ART \nYou’ve likely heard the news that SLOMA will be taking over The Network building downtown\, but what will that actually look like? Leann Standish\, SLOMA’s Executive Director\, will join us onstage with Ermina Karim\, SLOMA Board Co-Chair\, to share more about the museum’s ambitious plan for the future in the heart of downtown SLO. \n\nCAL POLY LION DANCE TEAM \nWe’ll close out the morning with the Cal Poly Lion Dance Team. The team is a subgroup of Cal Poly’s Chinese Students’ Association and has been around for more than 60 years! The Cal Poly Lion Dance Team consists of about 30 active members and performs throughout the academic year for the Central Coast. \n\nThank you to Kitchen and Vine for breakfast and Coastal Peaks for coffee! \n                   \n  \nThank you to this month’s featured sponsor: \n \n  \n
