Attempting to reverse the traditional dynamics of power in portrait photographer\, Goyette offers his camera in service to those he photographs\, and they bring their own props\, costumes\, and stories – with the beloved mulberry tree as a key motif in all the images. Utilizing aging techniques in photography\, Goyette seeks to activate slower ways of looking in the history of the medium. \nAbout the Artist\nRaised in California and based in San Luis Obispo\, Barry Goyette specializes in photographing people for advertising\, and has expertise in a broad range of video and design services for a diverse clientele. Known for bringing a sophisticated\, story-driven point of view to both his personal and commercial projects\, Goyette has distinguished himself as a creator of unique\, client-specific imagery for over 25 years.

DESCRIPTION:Art After Dark is a self-guided art walk on the First Friday of each month that allows the community to experience visual\, literary\, and performing art in SLO County in galleries\, non-profit organizations\, and other businesses. This event is free and open to all. We encourage people to explore the creativity originating on the Central Coast. \nThe spotlight for February is Texture Salon’s “Black History Month Lounge: Celebrating Arts and History.” The lounge will include drum circles led by Tracy Morgan at 5:30 PM and 7 PM\, a digital gallery of works by local Black artists\, a history of hip hop between drum circles\, and Black history visuals and conversation starters. This event is a collaboration between R.A.C.E. Matters and SLO County Arts Council.
