SUMMARY:Great American Melodrama presents Leading Ladies
DESCRIPTION:The hilarious farce Leading Ladies by Ken Ludwig continues the Melodrama’s 2015 season\, opening March 12.  Directed by Melodrama Artistic Director Eric Hoit\, Leading Ladies becomes the third farce by Mr. Ludwig the Oceano theater has presented\, following highly successful runs of his Lend Me A Tenor and The Fox on the Fairway. Following Leading Ladies at each performance is The Flyin’ High Vaudeville Revue\, in which the Melodrama cast takes a comedic look at various forms of flight.  Kites\, flight-challenged birds\, air and space travel\, and even Peter Pan are all given a unique spin in this song\, dance and comedy-filled revue\, directed by Hoit\, with musical direction by Kevin Lawson and choreography by Leah Kolb. Leading Ladies and The Flyin’ High Vaudeville Revue play from March 12 through April 26.

SUMMARY:SLO Grocery Outlet Launches Rebate Program to Benefit the
DESCRIPTION:The San Luis Obispo Grocery Outlet\, a locally owned and operated grocery store part of a national chain\, is excited to announce the launch of a school partnership program to benefit the San Luis Obispo School District\, in which each school receives 5 percent of the purchases made on their behalf. Parents must sign up through their PTA\, who receives scan cards for all staff and students’ families that are specific to their school. When a purchase is made\, the store will scan the card and capture the dollars spent (excluding alcohol). At the end of each month\, the total purchases for each school are calculated and the each school receives 5 percent of the purchases made on their behalf. There will be no blackout dates or restrictions on purchases\, aside from alcohol. The program launches on April 14 and will conclude on Aug. 31. The program is available for all schools to participate in through their PTA.

SUMMARY:Cal Poly Open House Concert
DESCRIPTION:hree Cal Poly music ensembles featuring more than 100 of the university’s finest student musicians will perform at this year’s Open House Concert at 8 p.m. Friday\, April 17\, in Harman Hall in the Performing Arts Center. The Cal Poly Symphony\, conducted by David Arrivée\, will feature works for symphonic orchestra\, including “Palladio” by Karl Jenkins\, “Oblivion” by Astor Piazolla\, and Monty Norman’s theme from the James Bond films. The Cal Poly Wind Ensemble\, conducted by Andrew McMahan\, will perform a selection of wind band masterworks including “Strange Humors” by John Mackey. This piece features Cal Poly 2012 music alumnus Jonathan Withem on the djembe\, a rope-tuned\, skin-covered goblet hand drum originally from West Africa. The University Jazz Band I\, directed by Paul Rinzler\, will perform “Wind Machine” by Sammy Nestico\, “Smack Dab in the Middle” by John Clayton\, and “Some Skunk Funk” by Randy Brecker. Tickets to the concert are $12 and $14 for the public and $9 and $12 for senior citizens and students.
