SUMMARY:Jubilee By The Sea Jazz Festival in Pismo Beach
DESCRIPTION:Every October our Club hosts “Jubilee by the Sea\,” a world class traditional jazz festival held in beautiful Pismo Beach. This festival has been successful each year since it began in 1976\, with fans streaming in from all over the country. It is held for four days at multiple venues including the Pismo Beach Veteran’s Memorial Building\, Marie Calendars banquet room\, and in tents located at the St Anthony’s Fair Ground and “on the beach” at the Addie Street parking lot. Buses run continuously to get you to all of the venues for another great show! Locally catered food and drinks are available at all locations. We have hardwood floors at all venues for your dancing pleasure! There are three-day tickets\, one-day tickets and student tickets available. \nDuring the course of the event\, we provide about 120 one-hour performances utilizing 20 bands plus guest artists. The festival takes place during the last FULL weekend in October. It is organized and operated solely by Volunteers. Click here to download a Jubilee Volunteer Form. This is a separate effort from our regular Sunday Sessions. Revenue from the festival helps fund the monthly BSR Sunday Sessions as well as our extensive Youth Programs. We need financial support to help us fund the Jubilee every year. Our supporters are called “Jubilee Boosters” and are entitled to special privileges\, depending on their level of support. SUMMARY:Cal Poly Haunted Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch
DESCRIPTION:The Cal Poly Pumpkin Patch is open to the public every weekend through Halloween. The Haunted Corn Maze will be open Oct. 23-24 and Oct. 30-31\, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and younger. Children 3 and younger are free. The pumpkin patch sells pumpkins for $3 to $7 and gourds from $1 to $7 Fridays from 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is located on Mt. Bishop Drive. Enter the campus on Highland Drive\, and follow the signs to the field. Sales benefit the Cal Poly Crops Club.

DESCRIPTION:AGHS Theatre Company opens their season with Shakespeare’s darkest and most powerful tragedy: Macbeth.  Macbeth is Shakespeare’s shortest tragedy\, and tells the story of a brave Scottish general named Macbeth who receives a prophecy from a trio of witches that one day he will become King of Scotland. Consumed by ambition and spurred to action by his wife\, Macbeth murders King Duncan and takes the throne for himself. He is then wracked with guilt and paranoia\, and he soon becomes a tyrannical ruler as he is forced to commit more and more murders to protect himself from enmity and suspicion. DESCRIPTION:Cal Poly’s 2015 Parent and Family Weekend will begin with a musical showcase emceed by Music Department Chair W. Terrence Spiller at 8 p.m. Friday\, Oct. 23\, in Harman Hall of the Performing Arts Center’s Christopher Cohan Center on campus. \nThe Parent and Family Weekend Ensemble Showcase will feature all Cal Poly Music Department major performing ensembles\, including the Cal Poly Arab Music Ensemble\, Cal Poly Choirs (PolyPhonics and The University Singers)\, University Jazz Band I\, Cal Poly Symphony\, and Cal Poly Wind Ensemble. \nThe Cal Poly Arab Music Ensemble\, directed by Ken Habib\, will begin the program with selections of classic art and popular music from the Eastern Mediterranean and larger region.  \nThe Cal Poly Choirs\, conducted by Thomas Davies\, will feature both The University Singers and PolyPhonics performing works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart\, Meir Finkelstein and Lili Boulanger. The combined choirs will join with organist Paul Woodring in a performance of “Antiphon” by Ralph Vaughan Williams. \nThe University Jazz Band I\, led by Jazz Studies Director Paul Rinzler\, will perform a program of big band swing dance classics.  \nThe Cal Poly Symphony\, under the direction of David Arrivée\, will preview selections from its fall “Back to Nature” concert\, including Mendelssohn’s “Hebrides Overture.”  \nThe Cal Poly Wind Ensemble\, directed by Andrew McMahan\, will close the show with performances of traditional and modern works selected from the best repertoire written for symphonic wind band. \nTickets are $12 and $14 for the public and $9 and $12 for senior citizens and students. Pricing includes all Performing Arts Center fees\, and event parking is sponsored by the PAC. Tickets are sold at the Cal Poly Ticket Office between noon and 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
