SUMMARY:Arroyo Grande High School presents "Macbeth"
DESCRIPTION:AGHS Theatre Company opens their season with Shakespeare’s darkest and most powerful tragedy: Macbeth. Macbeth is Shakespeare’s shortest tragedy\, and tells the story of a brave Scottish general named Macbeth who receives a prophecy from a trio of witches that one day he will become King of Scotland. Consumed by ambition and spurred to action by his wife\, Macbeth murders King Duncan and takes the throne for himself. He is then wracked with guilt and paranoia\, and he soon becomes a tyrannical ruler as he is forced to commit more and more murders to protect himself from enmity and suspicion. The bloodbath and consequent civil war swiftly take Macbeth and Lady Macbeth into the realms of arrogance\, madness\, and death. \nThere will be 6 shows: October 23rd @ 7pm\, October 24th @ 2pm\, October 24th @ 7pm\, October 29th @ 7pm\, October 30th @ 7pm\, and October 31st @ 7pm. \nFor tickets please visit the Clark Center website listed below and if you have any questions please call them at 805-489-9444.

SUMMARY:Cal Poly Arts Presents Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings
DESCRIPTION:Whether on stage or late-night TV\, no other band today plays with the rhythm\, feeling or explosive power of the Dap-Kings and no other singer can match the energy and honest soul of Sharon Jones. On Thursday\, October 29 at 7:30 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center\, SHARON JONES AND THE DAP-KINGS will deliver their signature eclectic sound that drives straight to the heart.\nAfter more than a decade of successful recordings\, standing room-only concerts around the world\, and popular TV performances\, a career highlight came when the band’s 2014 album\, Give the People What They Want\, was nominated for a Grammy for Best R&B album and helped convince Augusta\, Georgia that they needed a “Sharon Jones Day.”\nOther stellar moments include when Jones and the Dap-Kings were invited by Prince to open for his shows at New York’s Madison Square Garden and in Paris; when they joined John Legend and the National Symphony Orchestra to re-imagine Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Goin’ On” at the Kennedy Center\, and performing with the LA Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl.\nThe Dap-Kings backed Beck as the musical core of his innovative “Hello Again” project\, worked with David Byrne\, and laid down studio tracks with producer Bob Rock. Jones has collaborated with David Byrne\, They Might Be Giants\, Rufus Wainwright and Lou Reed\, and joined Michael Bublé on “Saturday Night Live” to perform the duet\, “Baby (You Got What it Takes).” She also acted and sang in the Denzel Washington film\, The Great Debaters\, and the band joined her in the movie\, Wolf of Wall Street.\nThis will be a high volume performance.\nYouTube link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=1&v=IlPE1rEdAdI\nStudent and adult tickets range from $30.40 – $58\nThis show is sponsored by Ken & Tricia Volk
