SUMMARY:Cuesta College's Harold J. Mossi Art Gallery presents Camille Rose Garcia
DESCRIPTION:A collection of layered\, broken narrative paintings of wasteland fairy tales by Los Angeles based artist Camille Rose Garcia will be on exhibit February 29 – March 25 at Cuesta College’s Harold J. Miossi Art Gallery. \nAs the child of a Mexican activist filmmaker father and a muralist/painter mother\, Garcia’s works are influenced by William Burroughs’ cut-up writings and surrealist film\, as well as vintage Walt Disney and Fleischer Studios cartoons. Her paintings act as critical commentaries on the failures of capitalist utopias\, blending nostalgic pop culture references with a satirical slant on modern society. \nGarcia’s works have been displayed internationally and in many art galleries\, including collections by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the San Jose Museum of Art. Garcia has also been featured in numerous magazines\, including Rolling Stone\, Juxtapoz\, and Modern Painter. \nThe Harold J Miossi Art Gallery is located in room 7170\, on the San Luis Obispo campus of Cuesta College. It is open Monday-Friday\, 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and the 1st and 3rd Sundays from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Admission is free. For more information\, please call (805) 546-3202.

SUMMARY:Cal Poly Arts Presents Igudesman & Joo - And Now Mozart
DESCRIPTION:Classical music or comedy? It’s both when madcap musical virtuosi Igudesman & Joo bring serious fun to this concert. With goofball schtick and genreblurring musical montages that smash the stereotypes of classical music\, these YouTube favorites mix music\, comedy and theatre with inspired lunacy. (Think Mozart meets Monty Python! “South Park” meets Bach! Victor Borge in the 21st Century!) And Now Mozart will turn the Cohan Center into a hilarious musical comedy club! \n “Their blend of classical music and comedy\, laced with pop culture references and a wholly novel take on the word ‘slapstick\,’ is fueled by genuine\, dazzling virtuosity.” – The New York Times \n Pre-show lecture scheduled in the PAC Pavilion\, 6:30 pm \nAdult: $30-45\nStudent/Cal Poly Faculty & Staff: $24-36

SUMMARY:Cal Poly Presents And Now Mozart
DESCRIPTION:On Tuesday\, March 15\, 2016\, 7:30 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center\, Cal Poly Arts presents “AND NOW MOZART” starring violinist Aleksey Igudesman and pianist Hyung-Ki Joo\, the inventive comic duo whose hilarious mix of music\, pop culture and pure zaniness has won them fans of all ages and cultures worldwide.\nHighly-trained musicians\, Igudesman & Joo’s inspired silliness can start with Rachmaninoff or Liszt and find its way through martial arts\, movie classics\, rock\, hip hop\, folk\, heavy metal and disco\, step dancing and Monty Python’s Ministry of Silly Walks. They share the subversive comedic sensibilities of such influences as “South Park\,” “SNL\,” Ricky Gervais and the “Portlandia” team.\nAs an antidote to the stuffiness of most concerts\, Igudesman and Joo transform the concert stage into a musical “Pee-wee’s Playhouse\,” where the three Bs can be Bach\, Beethoven and Bond – James Bond. They don’t just play the violin with a vibrating milk- frother or use wood blocks to tickle the ivories\, they do it with dazzling virtuosity. The result\, as Vanity Fair puts it: “the craziest\, most hysterically funny music ever.”
