DESCRIPTION:The Damon Castillo Band is a Rock/Soul group. \nHeralded as the premier concert series on the Central Coast\, Concerts in the Plaza features musical genres across the spectrum from reggae to rock\, blues to jamgrass\, soul\, California roots rock and more. Thousands attend each summer to dance\, enjoy the music and the venue with family and friends\, wind down after work or just have a great time during the 14-week season. \nLocal vendors sell snacks and food for hungry concert goers while Firestone Walker Brewing Company and Chamisal Vineyards supply beer and wine for purchase. Non-alcoholic beverages are provided as well. Bar and food vendors open at 5 PM. \nRemember… Concerts in the Plaza is a family friendly event. No outside alcoholic beverages or pets are allowed and this is a non-smoking event. Please refrain from placing chairs and/or other material on the grassy knoll before 11:30 AM.

DESCRIPTION:Since 2007\, New England-born singer/songwriter\, Matthew Szlachetka\, has served as frontman for The Northstar Session (www.thenorthstarsession.com) – an acclaimed Los Angeles-based roots-rock band. \nA multi-album artist\, Szlachetka has busily recorded four albums over the past five years. As well\, he has played more than 150 shows a year throughout the US with his blend of rock\, blues\, country and folk influences. Never satisfied with sitting still\, in-between tours Szlachetka compiled a group of songs he will debut with his solo album\, Waits For A Storm To Find. \nSzlachetka’s music has been heard on various movies and TV shows\, including the hit NBC show Parenthood (Season 2\, Episode 2) where he performed in a scene with actor Dax Shepherd. \nArtists he has opened for and/or shared the stage with include Chris Isaac\, Brandi Carlisle\, John Waite\, Chris Hillman\, Cracker\, Camper Van Beethoven\, Greg Laswell\, Jonette Napolitano\, Hanson\, Fishbone\, The English Beat\, Madi Diaz\, The California Honeydrops.

SUMMARY:SLO Little Theatre presents "The Drowsy Chaperone" [Special Martini Night]
DESCRIPTION:The San Luis Obispo Little Theatre is thrilled to launch their landmark 70th Season of live theatre in San Luis Obispo with the Tony Award-winning musical The Drowsy Chaperone. The delightful “musical within a comedy” is at once a parody and an homage to Broadway musicals from the 1920’s. With book by Bob Martin and Don McKellar and music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison\, The Drowsy Chaperone opened on Broadway in 2006\, winning multiple awards and quickly becoming a sold-out favorite in New York\, Los Angeles\, Chicago\, San Francisco and around the country. The Drowsy Chaperone runs August 19-September 11\, Thursdays\, Fridays and Saturdays at 7 pm\, Saturdays and Sundays at 2 pm. Special “Martini Nights” at the theatre bar will be offered on August 20\, August 26\, September 2 and September 9. Tickets range from $15 to $35 and are available at slolittletheatre.org or by calling (805) 786-2440. \nWith the houselights down\, an actor referred to only as “man in chair” appears on stage and puts on his favorite record: the cast recording of a fictitious 1928 musical. The recording comes to life as the man in the chair looks on\, commenting on the action as the music and the comedy play out. All the elements of a madcap 1920s musical are there: two lovers on the eve of their wedding\, a bumbling best man\, a desperate theatre producer\, a not-so-bright hostess\, a daring aviatrix\, two gangsters posing as pastry chefs\, a misguided Don Juan and\, of course\, an intoxicated chaperone.\nThe Drowsy Chaperone pays hilarious tribute to the fun\, frivolity and delight of American musical comedy.\nThe Little Theatre’s production of The Drowsy Chaperone is directed by Suzy Newman\, with musical direction by Mark Robertshaw and choreography by Drew Silvaggio. The talented cast features Mike Mesker as “Man in Chair\,” Karen Kahn Pearson as the Drowsy Chaperone\, Melanie Marie as Janet (the bride) and Tim Stewart as Robert (the groom.) Other members of the ensemble are Natalia Salsbury\, Dory Duke\, Vincent Lemos\, Darrell Haynes\, Amanda Thayer\, Erin Parsons\, Naomi Skee\, Claire Edmonds\, Travis Nefores\, Ed Cardoza\, Larry Kaml\, Isaac Bromby and John Mackey.
