SUMMARY:The Great American Melodrama Presents: THE HOLIDAY EXTRAVAGANZA
DESCRIPTION:November 15 – December 31 \nNo holiday season on the Central Coast is complete without seeing The Holiday Extravaganza\, at the Great American Melodrama in Oceano. The annual production features the timeless classic A Christmas Carol\, a hilarious fractured fairytale\, and a vaudeville revue featuring the song\, dance\, and comedy of the season. Whether you’ve been naughty or nice\, The Holiday Extravaganza is a perfect for any holiday wish list.  \n  \nThe show opens with a one-act version of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol\, directed by Melodrama Artistic Director Dan Schultz. Miserly Ebenezer Scrooge (Billy Breed)\, who thinks Christmas is a “humbug\,” is visited by spirits who teach him the true meaning of the holiday season. These magical encounters lead to heart-warming scenes of redemption\, punctuated with songs and laughter. \n  \nFollowing A Christmas Carol is the comedic operetta Rapunzel\, or Hair Today\, Gone Tomorrow by Eric Hoit and Marian Partee. This hysterical musical lark\, directed by Hoit\, follows Rapunzel (Annali Fuchs Wackowski) and a wacky cast of characters as they let their hair down. They sing classical music with fractured-fairy tale lyrics in a 30-minute production sure to delight one and all. \n  \nThe evening concludes with the company’s traditional vaudeville revue. This year’s show is based on children’s letters to Santa Claus. Enjoy musical numbers like the ever-popular “Reindeer Rap\,” the famous Water Glass Orchestra\, and Five Golden Rings Chorale. Musical direction and accompaniment for The Holiday Extravaganza is provided by Mike Wilkins with choreography by Sydni Abenido and Zach Johnson.  \n  \nMany performances are added to the Melodrama’s regular schedule to accommodate demand for this Central Coast favorite. A performance calendar can be found at www.americanmelodrama.com//show-calendar. This is the Melodrama’s most popular show of the season\, and tickets are sure to sell out soon. The Melodrama’s in-house snack bar features great food and drinks served before the show and during intermissions. Tickets are $26 and $30\, with discounts available for seniors\, students\, active military\, and children. \n  \nThe Melodrama also announces that their affordable 2019 season subscriptions are on sale now. The theatre is offering a slate of seven comedies\, musicals\, and melodramas – all followed by ever-popular vaudeville revues. The complete lineup will be available at www.americanmelodrama.com/2019-season. Those purchasing passes to all seven shows receive a 30% discount off of the top ticket price. \n  \nFor more information and to purchase tickets or passes\, call the Melodrama Box Office at 805-489-2499\, or visit their website at www.americanmelodrama.com. The Great American Melodrama is located on Highway 1 in Oceano\, just three miles south of Pismo Beach. The Melodrama has been providing professional family entertainment on the Central Coast since 1975. \n

SUMMARY:SLO Rep Theater Presents: The Santaland Diaries
DESCRIPTION:Written by David Sedaris\nAdapted for the stage by Joe Mantello\nDirected by Suzy Newman \nShow Times\nDecember 8 – December 15\, 2018\n Sat\, Dec 8 @ 9:30 pm\n Sun\, Dec 9 @ 7:00 pm\n Fri\, Dec 14 @ 9:30 pm\n Sat\, Dec 15 @ 9:30 pm \nAbout\nKevin Harris returns for his fifth year as Crumpet the Elf in this holiday cult classic! \nWhen a down-on-his luck wannabe actor arrives in New York City at the end of the year\, the only employment he can find is at Macy’s department store — working in “Santaland” for the holiday season\, as a reluctant\, but relentlessly cheerful\, elf. Newly christened “Crumpet”\, our clever anti-hero shares his observations of the mayhem in front of and behind the scenes during one chaotic December\, from aggressive parents and drunken Santas\, to flirtatious actors\, poor hygiene\, and the racially-charged hazards of being a “Pointer Elf.” Will Crumpet find a moment of pure Christmas spirit? Will he escape with his life on Christmas Eve before being torn apart by enraged customers? Based on his beloved humorous and autobiographical essays\, David Sedaris’ The Santaland Diaries is a wry and witty look at the combination of retail hell and theatrical spectacle that is the holiday season; a sharp\, narrowly observed dark comedy. The perfect Christmas treat for grownups\, this one-man show has been an annual tradition at theaters across the United States for the past twenty years. \nThe Santaland Diaries runs approximately 65 minutes with no intermission. \n

SUMMARY:SLO Brew Rock Presents: 3rd Biannual Rock the Vine Craft Wine Market
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nRock the Vine: Central Coast Wine Market \nSLO Brew is hosting the 3rd Biannual Rock the Vine Craft Wine Market on December 9th\, 2018 from 12pm – 4pm at The Rock . \nBoutique wineries and central coast cider producers will have a place to showcase their products and to the public.\nThere will be 20 over winemakers and 2 cideries will pour for approximately 300 guests. Each winery will be pouring an extensive list of reds\, rose\, and white wines. Held at SLO Brew Rock\,\nan outdoor venue with live music\, food\, tasting\, and games. Tickets to the event include wine tastings and a complimentary Rock the Vine wine glass for $30 per person for the day when\npurchased in advance and $35 at the door. \nThe SLO Brew Rock is at 855 Aerovista Place\, off of Broad Street by the SLO airport. \nThis is a 21+ event. Tickets can be found for purchase at www.slobrew.com/events . \nThe successful start-up\, Rock the Vine\, produced by two Cal Poly Seniors\, in conjunction with SLO Brew Rock\, returns this November to celebrate the end of harvest with\ntheir 3rd bi-annual event. The idea is to provide a makeshift “tasting room” in a farmers’ market style event focused around central coast wines. This project is to promote and provide exposure\nto the locally owned wineries without a large scale tasting room of their own. \nAs agricultural communication majors at Cal Poly\, Alex Broedlow and Emily Rosa decided they wanted to provide a new outlet for boutique and craft winemakers to come\nshowcase their products for the entire Central Coast community to come enjoy. Cal Poly instilled the Learn by Doing philosophy in their minds; with both of them coming from agricultural\nbackgrounds and wanting to make their 4th and final year worthy of something before graduation day\, the two were inspired to give back to the agricultural community. What started\nas a senior project and one time event\, Alex and SLO Brew have decided to continue Rock the\nVine as a local biannual event. \nFor more information and tickets please visit www.slobrew.com or contact Alex Broedlow at\nrockthevine@gmail.com
