SUMMARY:Wine Becomes Art: Exhibition Show at San Luis Obispo Museum of Art
DESCRIPTION:The San Luis Obispo Museum of Art and The Wine History Project of SLO County presents Wine Becomes Art\, an exhibition featuring original works and art etchings on wine bottles. The exhibition includes original artworks by Michael Masicampo\, Candice Norcross\, James-Paul Brown\, Carissa Chappellet\, Gary Conway\, Tim Lloyd\, Colleen Gnos\, Yuroz\, and artists of the Mano Tinta Project. \nWine Becomes Art is the culmination of artists and winemakers tying their artistic craftsmanship together to create works of art while helping to promote the Central Coast wine industry. Through the lens of three community-wide organizations\, the Central Coast Wine Classic\, the Edna Valley Arroyo Grande Valley Vintners\, and Growers Association (now SLO Wine Country) and the Mano Tinta Project\, Wine Becomes Art showcases the synergy of the creative process of winemaking and the visual arts. \nLearn more about The Wine History Project and the featured artists by visiting the project’s website.

SUMMARY:The Great American Melodrama Presents: Unnecessary Farce
DESCRIPTION:UNNECESSARY FARCE\nBy Paul Slade Smith \nMarch 14 – April 28 \nTwo cops. Three crooks. Eight doors. Go! The hysterical comedy Unnecessary Farce by Paul Slade Smith arrives at The Great American Melodrama on March 14. Featuring some of the Melodrama’s funniest actors\, Unnecessary Farce is sure to tickle event he most fickle funny-bones. “This is a show for people who love big laughs and big characters\,” says Dan Schultz\, the Melodrama’s Artistic Director.  \nLike all farces\, the convoluted plot sets up a series of hilarious misunderstandings. Set in a cheap motel room\, an embezzling mayor (Billy Breed) meets with his female accountant (Rebecca Tucker). In the next room\, two cops (Eleise Moore and Nick Wilder) wait to catch the meeting on video. But there’s some confusion as to who’s in which room and who’s taken the money. Then things go to another level when the Scottish hit man with anger issues shows up. This show is truly laugh-a-minute. Some content may not be appropriate for little kids\, so the show is rated PG. \nFollowing every performance of Unnecessary Farce is the brand new vaudeville revue\, The Jungle Adventure. Put together by Melodrama favorite Katie Worley Beck\, it’s a musical trip into the jungle primeval. You’ll meet a witch doctor\, take a jungle cruise\, and see Tarzan and Jane like never before.  Featuring song\, dance\, and comedy\, The Jungle Adventure is the perfect end to a night of great theatre. \nThese shows play March 14 – April 28. Performances are Wednesday through Fridays at 7 pm\, Saturdays at 3 and 7 pm\, and Sundays at 6 pm. The Melodrama’s in-house snack bar features great food and drinks served before the show and during intermissions. Tickets are $23 to $30\, with discounts available for groups\, seniors\, students\, active military\, and children. For more information and to purchase tickets\, call the Melodrama Box Office\, at 805-489-2499\, or visit www.americanmelodrama.com. The Great American Melodrama is located on Highway 1 in Oceano\, just three miles south of Pismo Beach. Come see their brand new box office building across from the theatre\, you can’t miss it.  The Melodrama has been providing professional family entertainment on the Central Coast since 1975. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Food History Project of SLO County
DESCRIPTION:Greetings Food History Project Members! \nSpring is here! The local hills are as green as can be and you needn’t travel hours to see wildflowers galore. \nLast month’s meeting at the Filipponi Ranch Tasting Room was quite a treat. Thank you again to Herb\, Dianne\, Julie\, Dana\, Scott and the Filipponi crew. Herb gave a reminiscent discussion about growing up on the dairy farm with the influence of his Swiss-Italian parents. Things have sure changed but what a treat to hear first hand his real life experiences. \nComing up on Monday\, April 8 from 5:30-7:00pm\, we return to SLO Provisions for a discussion with our venue host and co-owner\, Steve Bland and Chef Sam Campbell. They will talk about the dynamics of working with the local farmers and purveyors to curate their farm to table cuisine. Small samples will be provided by the chef. We will be collecting $10 at the event to help cover costs. As always\, you are welcome to come in early and purchase a full meal or glass of wine to enjoy before we begin. \nPlease RSVP to karen@winehistoryproject.org as we will have a limit of 25 guests.

SUMMARY:Raise Your Voice & Start a Movement!
DESCRIPTION:Lance Schwarzkopf recently launched a revolutionary new app on iTunes: Soundfly. Use your phone as a microphone and the phone’s of your audience as speakers. It’s an app that turns everyone’s phone into a listening device from a single source (the teacher\, speaker\, tour guide\, comedian\, leader\, etc.). There’s no limit to how many phones you can broadcast to – each listener simply downloads the app. It’s simple to trigger and has an endless number of potential applications. \nSoundfly is a tool for change that gives a voice to the people! Use it at a gathering\, for large conference rooms\, on campus\, to guide a tour\, outdoor sporting event\, at a large gathering like a party\, or any situation where there is an audience with iPhones. \nSOUNDFLY will work through a cellular internet connection\, but works best when listeners share the the same wifi network as the broadcaster. The typical delay between the broadcaster and listener is less than a second depending on internet speed\, compared to the average phone call which is over a second. For best audio quality listeners can use headphones. \nOn Monday\, April 8 – we welcome Lance Schwarzkopf to give us a live demonstration\, discuss the genesis of the idea\, and the journey he took to launch the app. \nIf you can’t make the presentation you can listen to Lance’s channel live within the app with this link: https://isoundfly.com/share/a272b5fb-9a02-41b5-9615-f1f99b7dfa12 \nBring your headphones\, iPhone\, and questions! I’ll have the wifi info for you when you arrive. Recommended: Install Soundfly from the Apple app store before you arrive. \nAs usual\, attendance is free\, but we would LOVE for you to register as a contributor: Become a Caloric Contributor for $20 you we’ll give you a shout out at the event
