Each of them will perform some solo selections and the afternoon will finish with a duet for both pianists!\n\nBRAHMS – Hungarian Dances Nos. 1\, 4 and 5 (arr. for piano four-hands)\nNOVACEK – Impromptu on ‘Esterllita’\nNOVACEK – Two Rags\nGOODYEAR – Selection for solo piano\nRACHMANINOFF – Suite No. 2 for two pianos\, III. Romance\nMILHAUD – Brazileira from Scaramouche\n\nAll Midday Mini-Concerts last no longer than one hour without an intermission.\n\nWhile these are free events\, reservations are required. If you so choose\, there is an option to make a suggested $10 donation per ticket.\n\nJohn Novacek Versatile\, Grammy-nominated pianist JOHN NOVACEK regularly tours the Americas\, Europe\, Asia and Australia as solo recitalist\, chamber musician and concerto soloist; in the latter capacity he has presented over thirty concerti with dozens of orchestras. Mr. Novacek begins his current season with an appointment to the Piano and Collaborative Piano faculty of The Mannes School of Music at The New School’s College of Performing Arts.As Festival Mozaic’s 2023-2024 Artist-in-Residence\, Mr. Novacek will work closely with Music Director Scott Yoo and Festival staff to curate and perform a series of chamber music and solo performances throughout the year in San Luis Obispo County. \nClick here to read more about John Novacek.\nStewart Goodyear Proclaimed “a phenomenon” by the Los Angeles Times and “one of the best pianists of his generation” by the Philadelphia Inquirer\, Stewart Goodyear is an accomplished concert pianist\, improviser and composer. Mr. Goodyear has performed with\, and has been commissioned by\, many of the major orchestras and chamber music organizations around the world. \nLast year\, Orchid Classics released Mr. Goodyear’s recording of his suite for piano and orchestra\, “Callaloo” and his piano sonata. His recent commissions include a Piano Quintet for the Penderecki String Quartet\, and a piano work for the Honens Piano Competition. \nMr. Goodyear’s discography includes the complete sonatas and piano concertos of Beethoven\, as well as concertos by Tchaikovsky\, Grieg and Rachmaninov\, an album of Ravel piano works\, and an album\, entitled “For Glenn Gould”\, which combines repertoire from Mr. Gould’s US and Montreal debuts. His Rachmaninov recording received a Juno nomination for Best Classical Album for Soloist and Large Ensemble Accompaniment. Mr. Goodyear’s recording of his own transcription of Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker (Complete Ballet)”\, was chosen by the New York Times as one of the best classical music recordings of 2015. His discography is released on the Marquis Classics\, Orchid Classics\, Bright Shiny Things and Steinway and Sons labels. His newest recording\, Adolphus Hailstork’s Piano Concerto with the Buffalo Philharmonic under JoAnn Falletta\, will be released in March 2023 on the Naxos label. His composition for solo cello and piano\, “The Kapok” was recorded by Inbal Negev and Mr. Goodyear on Avie Records\, and his suite for solo violin\, “Solo”\, was commissioned and recorded by Miranda Cuskson for the Urlicht Audiovisual label.

As an extension of One Cool Earth’s seasoned learning model\, we know that children grow best when learning outside through play. We are a nature-based and place-based enrichment program. You do not need to select both categories in order to donate.\n\nFilmmaker Ty Kim provides a deep look into the life of Earl Kim in this new documentary.\n\nEarl Kim: American Composer / Teacher / Mentor / ?Father & Husband / WWII Veteran\n\nA Complex Mind Expressed Through A Life in Music.\n\nEarl Kim was a Korean-American composer who received considerable recognition as a composer\, including commissions from the Koussevitzky Foundation\, the University of Chicago\, and Boston University and grants from the Guggenheim Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts. He was also active as a pianist (including lieder recitals with Bethany Beardslee\, Benita Valente\, and Dawn Upshaw)\, vocal coach\, and conductor\, and was a co-founder and past president of Musicians Against Nuclear Arms. Kim is especially well-known for his work in the idiom of music theater\, specifically on texts by Samuel Beckett. Representative works include Exercises en Route\, Narratives\, Eh Joe and the one-act opera Footfalls. Kim died of lung cancer at his home in Cambridge\, Massachusetts\, at the age of 78.\n\nEarl Kim was also one of Scott Yoo’s teachers at Harvard University. His piece Where Grief Slumbers will be performed on the chamber music concert later on Friday\, July 26.

DESCRIPTION:The California Mid-State Fair is pleased to announce that Cheap Trick has been confirmed to perform in concert Friday\, July 26 at 7:30 pm. An Evening of Music & Wine with Cheap Trick will take place in the Chumash Grandstand Arena at the Paso Robles Event Center and is part of Michelob Ultra Concert Series. \nTickets go on sale Friday\, May 17\, 2024 at 10 am to the general public. Established almost half a century ago by Robin Zander (vocals\, rhythm guitar)\, Rick Nielsen (lead guitar)\, Tom Petersson (bass guitar)\, and Bun E.
