SUMMARY:Woods Humane Society Presents: 2-for-1 Kitten Adoption Event
DESCRIPTION:As Woods Humane Society experiences what it is calling the “third wave” of kitten season on the Central Coast\, the shelter announces a twoday\, two-for-one adoption promotion to help more kittens find loving homes while benefiting from the companionship of a kitten friend. \nThe “Doublemint Kitten Combo” event will be held from September 21 to 22 at both Woods locations. During the event\, the standard kitten adoption fee of $150 per kitten (under five months of age) will cover the adoption of two kittens\, when adopted as a pair to the same home. \n“Since kitten season began in May\, we have performed 262 kitten adoptions\, and things do not appear to be slowing down\,” says Woods CEO Emily L’Heureux. She says the shelter currently has more than 20 kittens available for adoption and 71 more in foster waiting to come in to the shelter for their alterations and adoptions. “We hope this weekend’s event helps increase awareness about kittens in need of homes\, reduce barriers to adoption\, and encourage locals to consider adopting kittens in pairs.” \nL’Heureux notes there are many reasons to adopt two kittens instead of just one. “Kittens adopted as pairs benefit from having another young playmate for entertainment\, companionship\, socialization\, grooming\, and transitioning into a new environment. Adopters also enjoy these advantages\, along with the doubled infusion of love\, affection\, and joy into their homes. It’s a win-win!” \n\nAll kittens at Woods Humane Society have been spayed/neutered\, vaccinated\, microchipped\, licensed\, and treated for parasites. Adoptions also include a voluntary 30 days of pet insurance and a free wellness exam at a local vet clinic.

SUMMARY:Sunset Wine/Rail Excursion
DESCRIPTION:These fully-hosted\, docent-led excursions will depart from the SLO Railroad Museum at 11am taking a motor coach to the Santa Barbara Wine Collective\, arriving around 1:00 pm. Light refreshments will be provided on the motor coach trip to Santa Barbara. \nFollowing the roughly 1-hour wine tasting (6 wines)\, participants will have free time until 5:30pm sharp to visit Stearn’s Wharf\, cruise around more of the Funk Zone\, explore lower State Street\, eat early dinner at a restaurant\, or buy food for the return Amtrak trip\, etc. \nThe Amtrak Surfliner will depart Santa Barbara Train Station at 5:45pm and arrive in San Luis Obispo about 8:45pm after enjoying a Sunset train ride along the Pacific Ocean.  Limited food choices are available from the onboard Amtrak Cafe. \nCost: $129/person.
