And each of them must\, by law\, be governed by a board of directors. \nServing as a director on a nonprofit board offers valuable benefits to both you and your community. You’ll develop leadership skills\, expand your network\, and make a meaningful impact on a cause you care about. Your volunteer service ensures the organization stays mission-focused and effective\, supporting positive change and enhancing the quality of life in your community. \n\nTopics in this short introduction include: \n\nYour responsibilities as a director\nThe three “duties” of a nonprofit director\nFinding the right board for you\nTypical time and financial commitment\n\nThis class is online; link will be sent with registration acknowledgement. This class may be recorded. \n\nInstructor: Michael Simkins\, Ed.D. Michael has been a member of several nonprofit boards and served as board secretary\, treasurer\, and president. His professional experience spans the education and nonprofit sectors from being a school principal in Los Osos and Cal Poly lecturer to acting CEO of a major Silicon Valley nonprofit. He is immediate past president at San Luis Obispo Repertory Theatre and president of his local property-owners association. Currently\, he is Spokes’ Executive Director.

DESCRIPTION:Monday\, October 7 | 6pm at EDNA Contemporary\, 967 Osos Street\nCraft Markets 101: Selling at craft markets can be a great way to get your product out there and meet customers. It can also be overwhelming when you are first starting out. In this workshop\, we will talk about what it takes to sell at a craft market including finding the right market\, creating an awesome booth setup\, taking payments\, and learning from your experiences. Come prepared with questions as there will be time included to get your specific questions answered. \nFacilitated by Jenny Chang. Jenny has over a decade of experience selling her artwork at in-person markets and is ready to share her tips and tricks.
