SUMMARY:Introduction to Monoprinting with the JunkGirls
DESCRIPTION:Monoprinting is an easy\, fun\, interactive medium suitable for all ages and artistic abilities. In this class\, Melissa will introduce you to this form of monoprint making\, in which an image is made from a smooth surface coated in acrylic paint\, without the use of a press. Each print (or pull) will be unique and one-of-a-kind. We’ll utilize botanical elements\, stencils\, found objects (aka junk)\, and layering to achieve interesting textures and designs on various types of paper\, including vintage dictionary pages\, maps\, book pages\, etc. The pieces you create can be used in collage\, journaling\, card making or matted and framed as a piece of art. We will be using Gelli\, a well-known brand that creates (non-animal derived) gelatin-based plates and acrylic paint. \nThis fun and relaxing Workshop is 2.5 hours long. Participants will have plenty of time to create and will leave with several prints\, greeting cards & bookmarks. Participants must be 16 years or older and experience is helpful but not necessary because Melissa and Team will be there to help you with your projects. All supplies are provided – just bring your creativity and willingness to have fun.

SUMMARY:Cal Poly Theatre & Dance: Hurricane Diane
DESCRIPTION:Meet Diane\, a permaculture gardener dripping with butch charm. She’s got supernatural abilities owing to her true identity—the Greek god Dionysus—and she’s returned to the modern world to gather mortal followers and restore the Earth to its natural state. Where better to begin than with four housewives in a suburban New Jersey cul-de-sac? In this Obie-winning comedy with a twist\, Pulitzer Prize finalist Madeleine George pens a hilarious evisceration of the blind eye we all turn to climate change and the bacchanalian catharsis that awaits us\, even in our own backyards.
