SUMMARY:Let There Be Lights at the Villages of SLO
DESCRIPTION:On Friday\, December 4th\, 2020\, at 6:00 p.m.\, The Villages of San Luis Obispo will be instantly transformed by a dazzling display of holiday lights. Intentionally designed to be enjoyed as a drive-through event\, the press is invited to attend this socially-distanced\, Covid-safe event at 55 Broad Street in San Luis Obispo. A longstanding local retirement community\, The Villages includes Independent Living\, Assisted Living and Memory Care. \n“In the year of Covid-19\, we wanted to do something to take the place of our annual holiday open house\,” said Villages Vice President of Operations\, Lisa Hulse. “At a time when inside gatherings are not safe\, we wanted our residents and their families to see and feel the joy of the season just the same.” \nBetween 6 and 7 p.m.\, Villages residents will enjoy refreshments from an outdoor Hot Cocoa and Spiked Eggnog bar\, while Dickens’ carolers from A Wish Your Heart Makes entertain. Saint Nick has promised to make a special appearance\, too. \nThe Light Up The Villages lights display will remain in place all month\, from December 4th to January 6th and the public is invited to drive through it any night after dark until 9 p.m.

SUMMARY:12 PM | Working Lunch with Sister Theresa Harpin
DESCRIPTION:Order takeout from your favorite local restaurant and join us this Friday from 12 – 12:30 PM on Facebook LIVE for a stimulating conversation with SLO Chamber President/CEO\, Jim Dantona and Restorative Partners founder\, Sister Theresa Harpin! \nSister Theresa Harpin has dedicated much of her life to social and restorative justice work. In 2006\, she joined the staff of the Center for Restorative Justice Works and initiated and exponentially grew the Get on the Bus program in San Luis Obispo — which reunites children with their incarcerated dads at the California Men’s Colony. Transformed and motivated by this experience\, Sister Theresa joined forces with the San Luis Obispo’s Sheriff’s Office and Probation Department to launch Restorative Partners\, a nonprofit agency that offers healing and help to all those impacted by crime in our county. Since the organization launched in 2011\, it has grown to include mentorship programs\, vocational training programs\, two recovery homes in Los Osos\, the opening of their Paso Robles Anna’s Home for women and children\, and their State Parolee housing and outpatient services in San Luis Obispo. In addition to leading Restorative Partners\, Sister Harpin is a certified facilitator for Alternatives to Violence Project\, Victim Offender Dialogues\, Aggression Replacement Training and Thinking for A Change Programs.

SUMMARY:City of SLO Virtual Community Forum

SUMMARY:The Intermission Show - SLO REP

These videos will be featured in talk-show format featuring our host and “man-not-on-the-street” Kevin Harris. \n\nLearn more about this week’s spotlighted playwright HERE. \n\nTo view ALL our past episodes of THE INTERMISSION SHOW\, please subscribe to our YouTube Channel HERE.
