Rambling Spirits, a craft distillery inspired by California, is delighted to announce the grand opening of its new Bar & Grill in San Luis Obispo. This exciting venture, a true labor of love by husband-and-wife duo, Jon Carpenter and Ariette Armella, hopes to be a place that brings community together to share a good time in a relaxed environment.

“While we were looking back at some pictures of how the restaurant’s project started we couldn’t help but to stop a moment to remember also WHY we started Rambling Spirits. And for us it is all about COMMUNITY” Ariette states. “Coming out of the pandemic we all seemed disjointed. After several months of being told you have to stay away from other people it became really hard to re-engage. We missed that opportunity to come together again through a friendly conversation across the bar or in our favorite places for great food and drink, and that’s what we wanted Rambling Spirits to embody.”

Combining their expertise and passion, Jon Carpenter brings decades of experience in beverage creation and production, while Ariette Armella is a seasoned communications veteran and photographer. This couple have already ventured into the Central Coast distilling scene with their distillery and cocktail bar, the Rambling Spirits Workshop, located inside the SLO Public Market. Jon and Ariette’s shared vision for
creating a comfortable, yet elevated, culinary and cocktail experience has finally come to fruition in the form of Rambling Spirits’ new Bar & Grill.

At the forefront of the culinary team is none other than the highly acclaimed Chef Brenen Bonetti, formerly owner of the beloved Grinning Bear food truck and a 15+ year veteran in California’s gastronomic scene. Chef Brenen brings a wealth of culinary expertise, creativity, and a passion for the Central Coast, its ingredients and cuisine. With his extensive background in crafting delicious dishes, guests can expect a menu that pays homage to the region’s rich flavors and locally-sourced ingredients.

“Here at Rambling Spirits, we are committed to using as much from our bountiful county as possible, as well as having a sense of reverence for all that has provided us with life and joy, both past and present”, chef Brenen assures. “We have flavors of the elements, fire from our grills, seafood from our local coast, produce and livestock from our local terroir, and deep aromas in the air from our smoker”.

The new Rambling Spirits Bar & Grill promises a curated selection of handcrafted cocktails featuring Rambling Spirits’ Workshop favorites, making it a haven for craft spirit enthusiasts. The bar will also feature a carefully curated wine list and a selection of local craft beers to complement the delightful menu.

“We are thrilled to bring the Rambling Spirits experience to San Luis Obispo in a whole new way,” says Jon Carpenter, founder of Rambling Spirits. “Our Bar & Grill is a place where our community can come together. We hope it becomes a place where anyone can feel welcome and enjoy a friendly environment, a tasty drink and take a moment… and hopefully make new friends and memories”.

The interior design of the Bar & Grill intends to celebrate the hard working people of the area as much as the beauty of the nature here on California’s Central Coast. Combined with its welcoming ambiance, the RS Bar & Grill provides the perfect backdrop for both intimate gatherings and vibrant celebrations. Guests can look forward to great food in a welcoming environment whether they choose to sit at the indoor bar, their main floor, the heated patio, or play a game on the mezzanine amidst their working distillery on display. It will also have an outdoor shuffleboard court for those who like to stay active while enjoying their meal.

The Rambling Spirits’ Bar & Grill is a testament to the dedication and expertise of Jon, Ariette, Rambling Spirits GM Michael Beers and Chef Brenen Bonetti. Their shared passion for exceptional quality and genuine hospitality is palpable every step of the Rambling Spirits experience.
